French President Emmanuel Macron has ruled out issuing an official apology for abuses in Algeria, his office said Wednesday, ahead of a major report on how France is facing up to its colonial past in the country.

It gives one pause when France is more masculine than America.
Just imagine, the President of France refusing to apologize, while the dems are falling all over themselves apologizing for our nation’s very existence.
I’m trying to learn French on Duolingo not for any practical reason, but to exercise my brain. So I tend check out French things. For all the fun we poke at them, the vast majority are proud to be French and proud of their nation and don’t seem to be shy in saying it.
Such an attitude expressed here about our nation is roundly condemned by all right-thinking people of course.
Canada is now wanting to start a war with the US over the pipeline.
Maybe they will ask France to help them
Although, there are those rumors about China troops in Canada.
France certainly owes Algeria an apology.
The US owes no one an apology.
Hmmmm. So, should the mall in d.c. have had 200,000 white flags? 😯
France’s biggest problem going back to the end of the Napoleonic wars is how terribly disorganized the right wing has been. The country was dragged kicking and screaming to its present state just because of how petty and prone to infighting the French conservatives have been.
Does this mean we should apologize to blacks and offer reparations?
Absolutely not. France owes Algeria nothing and has already given it far more than it deserves.
A lot of people wonder how Hitler defeated the French so easily.
But if you look at France between the wars, and just what a cluster-f their government was then, it’s no wonder.
Still is....
Negative. The human rights in Algeria were abysmal.
The US does not have that record except maybe in a lesser degree dealing with the crazy Moros in the Philippines.
They won’t say this out loud today, but many French were secretly relieved when the Third Republic collapsed.
It was a hot mess.
So what is accomplished by apologizing?
It was called the Dirty War for a reason. The French showed restraint considering the kind of barbarism being inflicted.
