Biden Kills More Jobs & Risks National Security: Stops Border Wall Builders

Day one of the Biden presidency was bad news for thousands of working class families all over Texas.

Most conservative estimates suggest the border wall created over 10,000 jobs.

Daniel Friend reports:

Shortly after being sworn as the 46th president, Joe Biden signed an executive order to end the declaration of a national emergency that authorized former President Donald Trump to divert funds from other military construction projects to finance the construction of a new border wall.

Trump’s emergency declaration was set to expire in February, but before leaving office, he extended the declaration an additional year.

“Like every nation, the United States has a right and a duty to secure its borders and protect its people against threats,” reads the new executive order from Biden. “But building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution. It is a waste of money that diverts attention from genuine threats to our homeland security.”

“The proclamation directs an immediate pause in wall construction projects to allow a close review of the legality of the funding and contracting methods used, and to determine the best way to redirect funds that were diverted by the prior Administration to fund wall construction,” stated Biden’s transition team before the inauguration.

Though reports project that the U.S. government could save a large portion of the $3.3 billion in funds directed towards the project, Mark Morgan, the acting Customs and Border Protection commissioner under the Trump administration, warned that the government would lose money due to fees from contractors and the waste of purchased materials.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers estimates that the fees from contract cancellations could add up to $700 million.

Such as old fat guys who like to spend time at the range. That's the big danger, right there.

The media and my liberal neighbors don’t care. They see unity. I hate them.

One thing about The Wall, it is of such construction that demolition would be hopelessly expensive, and most of it will remain standing several years from now. Rather than take down the wall, removal of monitoring systems and daily patrols will most likely result in either a number of tunnels burrowing beneath, or of means to climb over the wall with climbing fixtures put in place by daring and ingenious scofflaws on both sides of the border. Simply flinging a cable up over the top, and attaching various fixtures so it may be climbed and descended from like a cliff, might be one of the workarounds that provide access without passing through a legal entry point somewhere.

The coyotes are hungry.

Where are the right-wing special interest groups running to the nearest federal District Court judge to file a lawsuit demanding an injunction against Biden's executive order?

Isn't that how it was done against President Trump?

Are the Republicans back to caving at the first sign of resistance? Are they going to sit back and watch Democrats undo the gains of the last four years without even matching the Democrats' methods of putting up a fight?

This should be actionable. Knowingly making the country more vulnerable is illegal.

No standing was found to sue the government.

Hee-hee...

That's what I posted three days ago:

I predict that all the reasons groups had for standing to sue the Trump administration over immigration policy issues will no longer justify standing to sue the Biden administration over immigration policy issues.

But building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution.

But building a giant wall (fence) that spans the entire perimeter of the White House is a serious solution?

Easier to just remove all CBP at the ports of entry - just let the traffic flow freely. Drugs, trafficked people, 7 billion illegals, contraband - all just pass into the US unchecked is so much easier to do and costs less.

Very good questions.

Where are the Trump judges that McConnell bragged about getting confirmed?

What was the point if we're not going to use them?

How can he legally stop contracts that have already been awarded to run through to specific dates? He could cancel them, but then he’d have to pay high fees to the companies. Those guarantees are built into every contract between a private company, and the government aren’t they?
