The Republican Future Starts Now
Wall Street Journal ^ | January 20, 2021 | Karl Rove

Posted on 01/21/2021 5:20:54 AM PST by karpov

President Joe Biden’s inauguration marks not only a new administration’s beginning but also a new chapter for the loyal opposition.

The Grand Old Party lost the White House while picking up U.S. House seats, holding half the Senate, and adding to its numbers in state legislative chambers. These conflicting outcomes leave Republicans facing the difficult task of cementing blue-collar Trump voters into their ranks while regaining strength in the suburbs and making inroads with an increasingly diverse electorate.

To rebuild, Republicans must decide what their party stands for. The way forward begins with clarifying what the GOP’s answers should be to the nation’s challenges, with an eye to the 2022 elections.

This won’t be easy. Tensions between the party’s various elements are difficult to navigate, but it’s important to remember that President Donald Trump’s most popular achievements were conservative: originalist judges, a pro-growth tax cut, regulatory relief, strong national defense, recognition of the global threat posed by China, secure borders, and respect for life and religious liberty.

OP officeholders, candidates and party leaders should offer ideas that apply timeless conservative principles to America’s changing circumstances. As Republicans oppose the Biden administration’s agenda, they should contrast their new initiatives with the Democrats’ approach. The key is to remember that what they’re for is as important as what they’re against. The values underlying Republican initiatives are crucial, too. There are more conservatives in America who believe in traditional values, family, faith, personal responsibility, patriotism and law and order than there are liberals who don’t.

This will require forbearance, which is in short supply in some quarters of the party. Republicans should be guided by President Ronald Reagan’s rule: “The person who agrees with you 80% of the time is a friend and an ally, not a 20% traitor.”

"Republican party is dead. Foxnews is the bellwether imo. I don’t think people realize how significant that collapse will be yet."

Yep. Maybe they don't see it, because they are so removed from the 'voting public' but there is nothing that will bring me to pull the Republican lever again. They raised millions after the election on the outrage and then turned their back on all of us. I don't support violence, but I will do all in my power to throw sand in the gears of this regime.

It’s time for us to form our own party - the GOP offers us nothing...

The Republican Future Starts Now.

What future? More groveling, kickbacks and lies.

Lets face the truth. GOP really stands for Groveling Other Party.

Useless turds, all.

NO. The key is NOT to figure out ways to 'say the words that will hoodwink' the base. That's what democrats do with their base. But we're not that stupid.... and the democrat base is waking up too... They're not a stupid as democrats think they are...

The solution is what ACTIONS will we take. And for DC Republicans that means feathering their own nests and trying to get invited to cool democrat parties.

The long term solution for us - for Trump supporters - is to form our own party and leave the GOP.

Nice that you won’t have a say in the primaries. That should teach them.

I am not very good at building a great long speech here because so many do so a lot better than me so I will dive into this as a partial set of considerations regarding the Republican party and its future.

The family has come up with a figure and after reading many posts I think it is a good baseline to start with but first a few words on the tear jerking poor Republican party snow job help us OP.

The republican party is DOA and that is being kind as a description. So what are we to do about it going forward? We have read a lot of interesting ideas but they all seem to revolve around two main bodies of presentation.

Keep the party and try and influence it to do what we need and follow the will of the Voters, or we start a new Party. The Patriot Party has a lot of people thinking it is a very descriptive name. We think if covers every American, of any political persuasion. You are either Patriotic or you are not and it is a very clear definition. No fluff or changeable ideology hidden in its name, just Patriotic.

After the demise of the Whigs it took one year only to dump them and have a new party (guess which one) up and running and winning seats in the next election, One year. So those who think it is impossible I point to history. So what would happen if we became a third Party.?

OMG the number of posts I have read and honestly had a good laugh at some and almost cried at others. Lets see, we will not fall into an abyss if we start a third party, really, we are missing the very clever hidden secret with the Rep Party and demo-tyrant folks and it is very well hidden in everything we have read or listened too.

We,us,YOU have a ready made third party, yes you heard it right here, so now to the numbers and things I am not really good at, but I shall give it a go. The republicans think they have a base, NO, not any more, and if we look at all the figures everyone seems to have that differ I am going to use 70 Million PEOPLE of a combined voting block that voted for our President and not the totalitarians.

How do we fund a new party, that is pretty simple, if each of those people donated $10 to the new party that would be a bank of 700 million dollars and We may not all have silver linings in our spandex gym shorts (DH just coughed a lot then and frowned) but I can bet that the way the totalitarians are busy busting up our Country the average donations overall would be in the order of about $100 per person. That’s a lot of zeros so to trim it lets call it 7 billion US Dollars. How much of a kick start do you think that would give a Political machine, it is not chicken feed.

Eldest just made a good point and so he went and looked how much does it cost for a Senate Seat?
Well to answer that I found a site that has those figures and also has some interesting comments below it. Then it struck me, why would we be focused on EVERY seat?

Why not run for the House and Senate seats that we had stolen or need to replace a RINO, those we won we will win again, so the costs associated with running in the 2022 and 2024 elections will Not be as massive as one may think. My family is now Independent, and will join the new Party, because we know it will give its best, and in a months time you can bet that a WHOLE lot more dems etc will want in on the new party as they wake up and find theirs is really the destroyer of their lives.

I thought this would be a short note, sorry.

This article is part of the Swamp’s smoke screen, pretending the election was not rigged.

Move along. Nothing to see.

The only thing that makes Karl Rove relevant is Fox News !
He has no cachet with the rank-and-file conservative.

Rove:
“The job of proposing electoral reforms shouldn’t be based on the unsupported claims of widespread fraud peddled by Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell. Instead, the goal should be to suggest measures that restore public confidence in our democracy.”

THIS POTATOHEAD IS A FRAUD. ____ ___, and the horse you rode in on, Rove.

The Republican Party is nearly as “dead” nationally as it has been in California for the past several decades ... and the current Republican “leaders” think this a good strategy. Go figure!
