Will North Dakota be the first state to beat COVID-19? Former hotspot sees an 80% drop in cases as it leads the US vaccine race with shots in the arms of nearly 7% of its population - while California lags behind with just 3% of its residents vaccinated

North Dakota has emerged as America's unlikely leader in the battle against COVID-19, leading the nation in the vaccine rollout and battling back from being the worst coronavirus hotspot in the nation with an 80 percent decline in active cases since mid-November.

Only a little over 14 million Americans have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Monday morning, and only about 54 percent of vaccine doses distributed to states have been administered to people, according to data from Bloomberg.

But while some states like California are floundering, using a meager 37 percent of doses distributed to it, North Dakota is flying through the doses sent to it by the federal government, using 78 percent of its allotted doses and vaccinating just shy of seven percent of its vaccine doses.

“California lags behind” - under total Democrat control with zero - zero - GOP influence. How could this be? They’re the best at everything. They should be the utopia of utopias.

Herd immunity. Don't forget there are millions of folks who have had the Covid and they're not on the books....and surely they have some immunity.

I think Fauci is full of cr** as how many need to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. Let's face it, we're just his lab rats.

Dr. Fauci is a political creature, and that is saying it nicely.

7% vaccinated and an 80% drop....Get to 10% and it should be over....no where near the 75%-85% Fauci is calling for.

I don’t have the numbers. But it wouldn’t surprise me if up to 50% of the population in North Dakota got infected. So just a little bit of vaccination is ending it there.

Not to worry, the Messiah Biden will cure all Covid from one state to the next from New York all the way to California. The Messiah has come! This is the way the media will report it 24/7!

Maybe not a ton of illegals up there at this time of the year when we have 10=12 living in rabbit hutches up and down California.

A 7% vaccination rate is not going to contribute that much towards herd immunity, especially when the vaccinations supposedly take a couple weeks to be effective, and need a second shot. There is definitely a different reason for the 80% 'case' drop.

Why is that unlikely? Just seems like a cheap insult from some self proclaimed oh-so-sophisticated-urbanite to me.

You have to sympathize with California. It’s a big state and this vaccination program just took them totally by surprise. They had no warning this was coming and no time to prepare for it.

The old saying “correlation does not imply causation” comes to mind here.

Two of my boys and one DIL live in Minot. They had it. Blew there noses for a few days. Survived. Never tested. I’d imagine that’s how many of their friends and neighbors navigated through it. As with any illness, those who are most vulnerable to start with won’t fare well. Masks and medicine won’t change that ever.

“Masks and medicine won’t change that ever.”

This is so wrong. Start with the viral load concept and add in Einstein and Robert Brown.

But I am sure you are fixated in your belief.

Just stopped by to let people know who follow Texags that a Dr there has passed away from Covid. He was doing better and recuperating but then the dreaded second whammy got him.

RIP Dr Gomez

North Dakota is governed by intelligent, decent people and is populated by decent, hard working people. None of that can be said about Kalifornia....New York...Illinois...Massachusetts....

“...And in Florida, which was the third state to reach one million COVID-19 cases, more than 40,000 people are overdue for their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine - a worrying sign that poor organization could leave at-risk residents unprotected....”

Ahh... they have to schedule an appointment and actually show up to get their 2nd dose... they do have priority.

btw, for those that just can’t grasp that the amount of the initial viral load could make a difference on how your body deals with COVID.....you should read up on George Washington and what he did to try to protect his Continental Army from small pox.

The COVID shamdemic did not need to be “beat”. It was no different from any other outbreak of a disease that is nonlethal for the great bulk of the population, and it should have been treated accordingly. The hysteria was beyond ridiculous. They could have protected the vulnerable, as in Florida, and left the rest of us free to carry on as we thought best.
