Leftists Are Colonizing Red Towns Like Mine, And Local Republicans Are Clueless
The Federalist ^ | 1/13/2021 | Mark Pulliam

Posted on 01/15/2021 9:05:37 AM PST by GreenWalls

As 2020 wound to a close, pundits noted the growing toll of leftist policies on residents of blue states, prompting migration from California, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois to Republican-run states such as Texas and Florida, which offer lower taxes and a better business climate. In addition to losing Oracle, Charles Schwab, Hewlett Packard, and Elon Musk, for the first time in its history California is expected to lose a congressional seat in the upcoming decennial census allocation, due to stagnating population. Texas is expected to gain three seats, and Florida is expected to pick up two.

Blue states tend to be dominated by urban voters, large numbers of unionized government employees, and—in California—a technology-based economy that relies on large numbers of young, college-educated (and in many cases foreign-born) employees. Even historically red states such as Texas exhibit symptoms of dysfunctional leftist governance in their burgeoning urban areas. Austin is rapidly becoming a clone of San Francisco and Portland.

...

As a resident of a small town in east Tennessee, I regret to report that wokeness is everywhere, even in the brightest-red areas of Republican-majority states. My town is home to a small, 200-year-old, Presbyterian-affiliated liberal arts college that appears to be an island of sanity in higher education. But it’s not, and neither is the rest of the town.

...

Complacency is a problem for east Tennesseans. They are so used to Republicans winning elections that they falsely assume victory is automatic. It is not.

...

Unless rural voters in states like Tennessee wake up, they may find that their communities have become knock-offs of Portland, Minneapolis, Austin, or Nashville. Like it or not, small towns are embroiled in the national culture war. They must fight back or they will lose.

Might as well just move to China now. By the time we get settled it will be more free than here.

One would hope the majority of blue state refugees are conservatives... but somehow I doubt it. California colonized Colorado back in the 90s and early 00s and we know how that turned out.

I’m sure Californians in California are still blaming Republicans for all of their problems.

It starts with the county GOP. If 30-40% of republican voters don’t vote we’re dooshed. They’ve got addresses and phone #’s. Then leave it up to guys like me to offer them a ride to the polls. The democrats are way ahead of us on this issue. Can we stop harvesting?

Just wait until this nation is once again flooded with tens of millions of new voters. Thanks to reverting back to open borders policies.

When Republicans and conservatives waved in illegals in order to provide cheap labor, our fate was sealed.

My vote was stolen, so why would I vote again?

The trouble is, conservatives generally do NOT want to interfere with how other people run their own lives - for extremists, that IS the core of their being. Consequently, everyday conservatives don’t usually pursue government service. Conservatives are satisfied to be a rowboat in the ocean, while extremists want to be the hurricane.

Anecdotally, all the callers to Shitcago area conservative talk shows who are moving to another state despise democrat governance.

An immediate and intense effort must be made to build and strengthen all Republican state and local organizations making them all MAGA-centric and excited about 2022 and 2024. A big job that will pay off for our American dream!!

No third parties are to be considered for they will only dilute our message.

The questions that must be addressed are, do cities attract liberals or do cities make recent otherwise newly arrived voters liberal?

As to more directly to this article, can these small towns that are being colonized by liberals, convince the new arrivals to be conservative or otherwise discourage these liberals from voting?

I grew up in a small town. More mom and apple pie you never did see. Folks didn’t have to lock their doors. Everyone knew who the bad apples were (usually someone’s halfwit relative) and the bad apples knew every house was protected with guns and by homeowners with backbones.

Over the course of twenty years it went from bloom to blight. Liberals from NY and NJ. The mosque was actually established before the town had even one detectable muslim (there are plenty now, and they have attitudes). Drugs are everywhere. Drug pushers and their pit bulls are everywhere. You can’t say “dregs of society” anymore, it’s so intolerant...you can’t say anything.

I didn’t want to move, but there was nothing to keep me there.

Unlikely. No communist state ever gets “more free”. And where will you get guns or other weapons necessary to shoot your way out of their entrenched socialism?

The other night on Fox, someone (I think Tucker) was interviewing the mayor of Miami. The mayor is trying to get Silicon Valley companies to move to Miami. The interviewer several times asked if the mayor wasn’t worried about inviting a mass of liberals to his city. The mayor doesn’t think it’s a problem. He said these people know how California Dem policies have destroyed the state and that they won’t want to see it happen to Florida. He’s wrong. These Dems have no clue. They can’t seem to understand that it’s the policies and people they voted for that created the mess they want to leave. People leaving Massachusetts ruined New Hampshire and Vermont and are well on their way to ruining Maine. People leaving California ruined Oregon and Washington, and have pretty much ruined Nevada and Arizona.

No; they’re collaborators in this poisoning of society.

“Republicans are clueless. Enough said”

When I think of Republicans, I think of Mike Pence.

A nice guy, family man, traditional values. Totally clueless and unwilling to attack the left or defend his own constituents. This is the Republican congress.

Republicans are a weak bunch. The party has not stood up for us in a very long time. The Uniparty has taken over. I no longer consider myself one. The national ones betrayed us who put them in office. I went Independent because the gopE stabbed me in the back while smiling at me. I still will not give up hope for some good to prevail - somewhere.

Precisely. We ask to be let alone and that's just what they believe they must never do. This won't end well.
