We are not doomsayers to acknowledge that civilizations fall of necessity, disappear or are subsumed into new syncretic entities, and that ours is no different. The conclusion is foregone, but not yet. In Michael Walsh’s terms from his new book Last Stands, manly virtue fights to the foreordained end. The issue is this: We cannot deter, but we can defer.
What we are really doing, whether we know it or not, is buying time. Western civilization and its constituent nations are too far gone to be retrofitted; our internal enemies have seen to that. As Bork writes, a “soft and hedonistic culture…faces a continuing assault from within.” The prospect is grim. Apathy, indifference, psychological devastation, envy and self-hatred are the norms of our present moment. America, the guarantor and bellwether of the West’s survival, has been hollowed out by its Olympian classes, the political, juridical, informational and fiscal elites [John Adams' deepest fear]...

In the course of time, cowards and parasites -- let us call it the Iscariot function -- will prevail over Great Men and Women. Nation-saviors like Churchill and Thatcher will be cast aside, heroes like Trump will be betrayed by friends and colleagues and openly cheated of re-election.

It has been happening for some considerable time, culminating in the most recent of a long sequence of hammer blows: the fraudulent election of Joe Biden thanks to widespread electoral malfeasance, the advent of rigorous and pervasive censorship protocols, and the ongoing purge of constitutional freedoms. Indeed, it is happening throughout the Western world. Read and study the Bible and decide for yourself. The Bible tells us when it is going to happen. When and not if.
If you read the article (personally, I often comment just from reading the headline), I think you will find that the author is speaking more about the end of Western Civilization than the Biblical end of the world.
I don’t think it’s the “big” End Times, but it certainly looks like the end times for the US and Greco-Roman, Judeo-Christian civilization (also sometimes loosely known as Western Civilization).
The Evil One has been trying to overcome the light for thousands of years. Biden’s cheerful announcement that we were looking at dark times ahead, referring to the literal darkness brought by his global warming plan to destroy fossil based fuels, sounded ominous to us. But to him and those behind him, darkness is good.
The end times aren’t near, they’re already here. We just witnessed the end of the 245 year American Constitutional Republic. As the year unfolds, people will finally realize that stark fact. We now live under a criminal illegitimate tyrannical government. What happens next is anybody’s guess, but it won’t be pretty.
People always want to believe they live in a special time, but they are usually wrong.
I’d take now over say...mid1300’s Europe.

I agree. I think we are going to have the opportunity to fight for our civilization. And, in the process, the wolves at the door will realize that destroying it and us wasn't as easy as they thought it would be.

They had a really bad strain of “COVID” then.
I was going to use a differtent word, but say the same thing. Why would we think we are that special? We are one nation; representing about 4% of the world’s population.
Just because we are having a rough time, it doesn’t mean it will “end the world.”
