Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been accused of proposing a 'Ministry of Truth' following her suggestion that a government commission needs to 'reign in' the press in order to stop 'misinformation.'
The New York Democrat made the remarks in an Instagram livestream on Tuesday, saying her colleagues in Congress were discussing 'how we rein in our media environment so that you can't just spew disinformation and misinformation.'
The comment drew furious backlash from free speech advocates and conservative critics, who accused the self-avowed Democratic Socialist of hatching a dystopian plan to establish government control over news outlets and journalists.
'Let's unpack this proposal, she wants to basically establish a Ministry of Truth -- we've all read '1984' and, you know -- to determine what is truth and what is not. So who sits on this committee exactly?' said Joe Concha, a media columnist for The Hill, in an interview with Fox News.

I realise that Twitter follows are not a perfect barometer. But please consider:
Biden only had 22 million followers at the end of last year.
Trump had 88.5 million. As his poll numbers went up, so did his followers. 88.7 million the night he was banned.
Hillary holds at 30 million followers, 8 million not willing to follow Biden.
Obama 127 million followers. 100 million don’t follow Biden. But then bots were easier during Obama admin. Could be astroturf.
But point is that such numbers are hard to ignore. Biden’s socialist support is an illusion.
I doubt it. I know she has never read The Constitution.
These dumb people don’t get how much they are life imitating art. How strange it is to have lived long enough to see the same stupid and evil ideas come around again to destroy the world. Is the beloved USA going to have to end up like Europe in WW2 before these arseholes get it.
Perhaps not so overt as a Ministry of Truth, but reimposing the fairness doctrine will kill conservative talk radio. Though Fox News is a nonentity other conservative cable TV options will be silenced. We are already seeing Internet censorship. Conservative books are already banned by some libraries and book sellers. I have kept an old short wave radio just for this situation as I expect broadcasts from beyond the Biden Curtain might be our only source of uncensored news.
