It takes Bloody-eye-ball-Biden four hours to plan out a bowel movement.

Well, new common core math does call the total in to question. Is 2+2 really 4? How do we arrive at that conclusion? Did the best possible method get used in arriving at that answer?

This is one time he will do as he says. Everybody wanted 2000 total except Mitch. That detractor is gone.

Supposedly Biden is already having problems getting democrats on board, Joe Manchin of WV has already stated he wouldn't support $2,000, and with a 50-50 Senate Biden has no room for even a single defection. So he'll either have to try trim down the bill to get a couple Republicans on board or try to change Manchin's mind.

I have a feeling the 50-50 Senate is going to come back to bite democrats, with Republicans in charge they could have blamed "the do nothing Republican Senate", but now they have excuses. The problem is, there are still a few moderate democrats who can throw a monkey wrench into any legislation, and it only takes one defection to kill it.

I agree. I never thought it would be an extra $2,000. I assumed that was the total amount of “free” money adding to the national debt.

Gibs me dat!

I think that if Biden is sworn in we will be in this economy for years. The old Soviet Block had more economic freedom than we have - in some ways.

We got a $600 check yesterday. So if we go 2000, I’d expect an additional 1400.

I have a better idea. Lower the tax rate so you won’t have to “give” us back our own money.

We have some morons running around here at work who are ecstatic because they have bought into the notion that they are being given money. Just like the income tax refund bunch.

Ours were deposited in my checking account on the 4th. People who haven’t gotten their check yet need to check the IRS website.

Agree...but

Don’t underestimate Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski’s ability to completely screw things up for our side by playing go along / get along with the left.

Not so....$2000 was ok with Mitch with stipulations....one in particular involving social media sites.

The fact that every social media site has banned the President tells us that maybe something is wrong with these Social Media sites. Perhaps their main goal is AND ALWAYS WAS "Political".

Cuz you know they don't give a damn about pics of your grandkids....or your cat with no ears...etc etc

Everybody wanted 2000 total

Well, not everybody. Not me. I don't think we should be handing money to everyone. Help those most impacted by the lockdowns. Help those who lost jobs. Help small businesses and specific industries. Target the money rather than a feel good "make it rain" while the real money goes to special interests.

Inflation should have exploded by now, but it has not—been spotty in some parts of the economy and not others.

Some articles I have read explain that the current economy is a lot different than what the “experts” are used to....

One _big_ factor is the incredibly high interest rates on credit cards for average consumers compared to mortgage or auto interest rates.

That means consumers will take “free cash” from the feds and use it to pay down credit cards _first_.

This _slows_ the velocity of money because it is not used to buy more consumer products.

That is why giving cash to consumers is not increasing the velocity of money the way the “experts” thought it would...

I figured Joe proposed $1,400 because they don’t have the votes for $2,000. I always suspected Joe is just along for the ride. Interesting to see how that works in foreign affairs.
