I have always put the best interest of the House Democratic Caucus and our members first Not the Dumocrats that vote for him. But the members first.

This would have been front page news yesterday but the RATS treason at the federal level knocked the state news out of the room. I wonder how many RAT state reps voted against Madigan for speaker. Is there a breakdown?

Sounds like Madigan will still be running things behind the scenes. Reminds me of organized crime and street gangs where the head of the family is behind bars but some puppet is doing his bidding anyway

Welch also has #MeToo problems. Harassing females and domestic battery allegations.

The guy is Madigan’s puppet - nothing will change. In Illinois the Speaker has the power to stop any bill from coming on to the floor for a vote. The new guy will just follow Madigan’s orders.

I assume he looked around at Illinois and the chronic deficits, debt and despair and said, “My work is done!”

Hard to believe but Conn has term limits for leadership.

DEMs voted it in a while back

In a one-party state, having a single person amass power in a leadership position keeps everyone else from moving up.

Hilariously, the new black guy has “me too” problems of his own and they cast them aside.

Madigan gone, or “gone”. And......it feels anticlimactic and meaningless. Can’t even be happy about it really. No joy.

Madigan withdrew from the final rat caucus vote and it was near unanimous for Welch. There was a previous vote in which Madigan got 51 votes, a large majority of rats but you need 60 on the House floor to get elected Speaker.

I think if he tried he could have won over 9 more rats, or got nine RINOs to vote for him on the floor.

Amazing, this fossil might have continued to serve until he was a walking skeleton. Ambitious underlings could have usurped him long before now. It is like the mob.

Never fear “Trader/Traitor Joe” is already talking about bailing out Democratic dominated cities and states!

“Illinois needs to secede from Chicagoland.”

If Cook and Lake Counties were excised from Illinois, Trump would have carried the state by 123,000 votes. Creating a State of Chiwaukee that also includes Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties from WI and Lake County (Gary, etc.) from IN would also leave the rest of WI as a Republican state and make IN unwinnable for any Democrat except in a lone congressional district in Indianapolis.

We don’t know the true number of votes Trump received in either Illinois or Wisconsin. We know he carried the latter, but with the epic-level Combiner fraud in the former, I think there’s an excellent chance he won it, too. I also believe he won Oregon, too, riddled with mail-in ballot voter fraud for years (which has conveniently not elected a new GOP Governor in 43 years).

Yes, but how to annex that state to Canada?

Thru Detroit-Windsor or thru Minneapolis-Duluth ?

>> I think if he tried he could have won over 9 more rats, or got nine RINOs to vote for him on the floor. <<

The IL GOP is claiming credit for "Firing Madigan", which is a joke. Madigan had become an albatross around his own caucus and the Dems knew he was damaged goods to their agenda, so they simply replaced with another lackey would do the same things without having the baggage attached to the name Madigan.

Even the most vile RINOs weren't going to "cross over" and vote Madigan in the current climate (with Madigan constantly in the news for his criminal activities), if for no other reason that it would be political suicide to make the news as the state Rep. who "saved Madigan" as Speaker. If this had happened, say, a decade ago for entirely different reasons (let's say Madigan faced a rebellion within his own caucus because of Madigan fatigue and power-hungry RATS tired of never moving up into the leadership, as payback for little Lisa getting the RAT nomination for AG over more deserving RATS), then I'm sure scumbag RINOs would have more than happy to crossover for Boss Mike and show what good "bipartisan" forward-thinking Republicans they are. Ironically, the worthless RINO combiner Pat Brady, who spearheaded the "Fire Madigan" campaign, is exactly the kind of RINO who would stab his own party in the back and crossover to vote Madigan if the climate were much more favorable to Madigan... remember, that sleezeball openly lobbied to pass gay marriage while he was serving as Chairman of the IL GOP!

In any case, meet the new boss, same as the old boss:
