Fact check: No, impeachment itself would not ban Trump from a 2024 presidential run

Even a Senate vote to remove Trump would not prohibit him from running in 2024; for the Senate to ban him from the presidency, it would have to hold an additional vote on this question.

I cannot wait for a Republican to send me a fundraising letter for 2022.

If they did not back Trump I will package a brick with the message, “I am MAGA, you are not. Good luck in private life.”
And tape on the prepaid return envelope.

"Trumps not winning in ‘24. Time for a new, non-toxic candidate."

I disagree, If President Trump ran in 2024 he could win. This coup is not going to age well. With it a month or two it will be even more obvious what happened.

I find it odd that in Trump’s “it’s over” speech where he said it was time to focus on a smooth transition of power, he said nothing about Biden specifically NOR any mention of resuming transitional briefings and procedures which had been halted.

Not only that, I hear NOTHING from the press COVERING such meetings and procedures.

They talk about Biden’s most recent picks, but NOTHING about this meeting occurring today, that one tomorrow, etc. etc.

Thats usually all we hear about during the transitional phase of bringing in a new administration.

Am I missing something here?

If they do not root out the fraud before the next election we will all be living in foxholes.

The rest you appear to have added because it's not on the Constitution. &nbnsp; So I should give back to you, "C'mon, really?"

Sigh.

Article I, Section 3, Clause 7:

"Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States; but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law."

It is in the Constitution, OK?

It doesn’t matter. All elections from now on will be rigged.

I think that after Trump living in their heads rent free for over 4 years, they’ve finally figured out a way to use that. By keeping the focus on Trump, they’re keeping our attention away from all the dastardly deeds they’re doing and planning. It’s “Don’t look here. Look over there at Orange Man!”

Not true. They can write whatever they want. Barring from office requires a separate vote in the Senate and if he is a private citizen it is constitutional.

How will they stop 100 million people from voting for Trump and a MAGA party in 2022 and 2024?

no....

This is not normal.

Transition is either taking place, or it is not.

Biden has resumed intelligence briefings, or he has not.

IF HE HAS NOT, it stands to reason that he would be screaming bloody murder, and the press would be echoing his screams.

Pelosi would be shouting from the roof tops that Trump is not cooperating by resuming briefings etc... and the Press would be again screaming to high heaven.

But they are not.

This does not make sense.

The question remains... Has transition resumed?

If so, then WHY has Kamala NOT yet resigned her senate seat??? I wonder if everyone realizes she has set a new record for delaying such a move.

Something is extraordinarily SCREWY regardless of what is going on.

I'm willing to consider the possibility I'm wrong, but my answer is based on a plain reading of the constitution. Do you have some reference to a law or to Senate rules, or House rules on impeachment that specify that barring from office requires a separate vote? Because I don't see that in the constitution. But since the House and Senate can establish their own rules, it would seem reasonable that they could establish rules on this question. I just haven't seen any that would clarify that. Do you have a reference for such a rule?

Were you addressing the question of being barred from office?

Removing from office after his term ends is nonsensical but we are talking about the LEFT.
