But the same people that rioted and looted and destroyed property in the cities this summer get off with nothing. And even got bailed out if arrested.

Never liked Coach K. One of the biggest phonies out there. Big-time college basketball and football are a joke and should be abolished. I’d be willing to bet that 95% of K’s players over the years had no business being “students” at Duke. They were there as chattel, earning hundreds of millions of dollars for the university and the NCAA (and, of course, personally enriching Coach K). Sure, a few of the kids parlayed that into pro basketball riches. A few. A very few.

It was an insurrection. It went to the very fabric of this great country; the symbol for our democracy is that Capitol, and we allowed that symbol to be really just spit on and stepped on.

INSURRECTION:

Mainly, I agree. I’ve seen video where some were let in by the Capital Police, but others broke in and they should be prosecuted. But let’s then prosecute the left wing people who do this sort of thing on a regular basis. Last week was the closest thing I can remember to a right-wing riot, and it’s a stretch to call it a riot, much less an insurrection.

There was a police officer killed the other day. How’d that happen?

I measure riots by numbers of buildings burned, number of TV’s looted, number of statues toppled.

A bunch of people quietly walking between the velvet ropes is not really a riot, nor an insurrection. Especially if the police pulled the barriers out of their way to enter.

But that’s just me.

There may be some “criminal trespass” charges coming for those that actually trespassed. But trying to prosecute someone for simply being there is like trying to prosecute someone for being a resident of Seattle because someone knocked off a liquor store there, so all people are guilty.

That’s not how the law works outside of a banana republic, the Soviet Union or a dictatorship. YMMV

Instead of talking politics, you’d better start worrying about how sh*tty your basketball team is....

And so this is how this silly farce of a country ends ... a cheating scandal at West Point that goes unpunished, U.S. Navy ships that can't even avoid crashing into other large vessels, and Viking Horn Guy proudly grinning for photos while standing at the Senate President's throne dressed in his face paint and Chewbacca outfit.

Law enforcement waved people into the Capitol.
Law enforcement helpfully moved barriers aside to ease the way.
The protesters walked between the velvet ropes as they moved through the government building.

A government employee shot and killed a woman.
Some bad actors (possibly ANTIFA) did a few thousand dollars in damage.

This sparked horror and outrage only because the media wanted that outcome.

Better check yourself on this Mike. Healthcare workers are refusing the vaccine in huge numbers.

No, Trump Isn’t Guilty of Incitement! By Jeffrey Scott Shapiro
Jan. 10, 2021 1:39 pm ET
Inflaming emotions isn’t a crime. The president didn’t mention violence, much less provoke it.

House Democrats have drafted an article of impeachment that accuses President Trump of “incitement to insurrection.” Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin said Thursday that his office is “looking at all actors here and anyone that had a role” in the Capitol riot. Some reporters have construed that as including Mr. Trump.

The president didn’t commit incitement or any other crime. I should know. As a Washington prosecutor I earned the nickname “protester prosecutor” from the antiwar group CodePink. In one trial, I convicted 31 protesters who disrupted congressional traffic by obstructing the Capitol Crypt.

In another, I convicted a CodePink activist who smeared her hands with fake blood, charged at then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in a House hearing room, and incited the audience to seize the secretary of state physically. In other cases, I dropped charges when the facts fell short of the legal standard for incitement. One such defendant was the antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan.

“It was an insurrection”

Pretty good coach, but obviously an uninformed dumb-ass. “Insurrection” is what the Left is doing right now. It is impossible to mount an insurrection by pushing your way into the Capitol building largely unarmed. To be sticklers for language, the Left sure does play loose with the King’s English.
