Southern Baptist leaders condemned protesters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, occupying legislative chambers and various lawmakers’ offices. The SBC leaders called for peace – and called Christians to prayer.
“Peaceable transitions of power have marked our Republic since the beginning,” SBC President J.D. Greear posted on Twitter. “It is part of honoring and submitting to God’s ordained leaders whether they were our choice or not. We need you, @POTUS to condemn this mob. Let’s move forward together. Praying for safety.”
Ronnie Floyd, president and CEO of the SBC Executive Committee, said he was “deeply grieved over the destruction and violence at the U.S. Capitol. The peaceful transfer of power is a hallmark of American democracy, and today we saw the opposite of peace. This is not what we are called to be as Americans, and this is surely not what we are called to be as Christians.
“Let’s continue to pray for America.”
Likewise, Russell Moore, president of the SBC’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, condemned a “mob attack.”
“This mob attack on our Capitol and our Constitution is immoral, unjust, dangerous, and inexcusable,” Moore tweeted. “What has happened to our country is tragic, and could have been avoided.”
Self- righteous proud nonsense, without a trace of humilty.
When will they condemn Antifa rioting?
I wish folks would be more cognizant that there is a great
deceiver working overtime out there.
If they are thinking the Right should be condemned, they are
barking up the wrong tree on this.
Look at the violence last year, and try and use that thinking-cap.
Who is the violent group? Left? Right?
Where were these leaders when cities were burning, people killed and cops attacked. They hold no moral sway.
The leadership is why the SBC is losing membership big time.
Okay. I'm good with that.
Uhhhhh, just one thing. Aks them what their position is on homosexual marriage.

So is Russell Moore looking the other way where it was Antifa behind the break and entry to the Capitol? A move that they telegraphed weeks ago? If so, the SBC is dead to me. Ed Young (Second Baptist Houston) may be a great preacher, but, ichabod.
If my denomination does this I am out.

I dont see evidence of a whole lot of "storming" There was some shoving by embeded leftist professional agitators that were mixed in with Trump zealots
