It's for Mike Pence to judge whether an election was held at all
The American Thinker in Huntingdon Daily News ^ | December 30, 2020 | Ted Noel

Op-Ed: On January 6, a joint session of Congress will open with Vice President Pence presiding as president of the Senate. His power will be plenary and unappealable. You heard that right. As president of the Senate, every objection comes directly to him, and he can rule any objection “out of order” or “denied.” His task will be to fulfill his oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and to ensure that the laws be faithfully executed. This is a high standard of performance, and V.P. Pence will have two choices. He can roll over on “certified” electors, or he can uphold the law.

How many Hail Marys are allowed in an election?

Yeah. I am not holding my breath. I don’t have much faith at all in anyone in Government.

Didn't need to read after the part that said:

" His power will be plenary and unappealable."

For the purposes of the joint session, his powers are enumerated in the Constitution, and extremely limited. If there are any objections to a state's electoral votes, he cannot even participate in the Senate debate on the matter.

The Vice President's role in counting the electoral votes is perfunctory. He's the congressional equivalent of Vanna White.

I still argue that Mike Pence has the constitutional authority, and has precedents, to rule that those state electors that come before Congress with fraudulent EC votes, and that come before Congress in violation of their own state election codes, shall not be heard. Their votes shall not be counted.

Over the last several weeks I’ve seen a lot of opposition to this point of view from many Freepers. I understand their POV, and while I would not name all of them as defeatists, many are.

We’ll if there are enough Hail Mary’s what are the odds one of them succeeds?

It only takes one of them to work.

At this juncture, it appears that not one of our “elected” officials has any interest at all in maintaining the one true cornerstone of our Republic. Damn them all to Hell!

Wow! You must be texting from the DC rally and showing your support along with all the other 1000’s of demonstrators.

Oh, I’m sorry... I confused you with patriots. You’re just at home in your underwear farting, drinking beer, eating chips and complaining.

“He’s the congressional equivalent of Vanna White.”

Really? Has Vanna ever turned a G when the player called M?

Just as Vanna cannot ignore the rules of the game to suit her own desires, Mike Pence cannot ignore the rules of the constitution and acknowledge fraudulent electoral votes.

Which ones would you suggest Trump forgo? I want Trump to use every, and I mean every possibility available to him to protect my vote. Granted, I don't think anything Trump does will change the outcome. The only thing that will affect the out come is us, and admittedly I have not done my part. I lack the leadership, unfortunately. But then I never ran to be a leader and then refused to uphold the oath I took because it was inconvenient.

Your faith should never be in a person or government or business etc. Faith should be in God to move a person to do the right thing.

Pray the Holy Spirit convicts Pence or more state leaders (or whomever you want to pray about) to do the right thing even if they have no clue why they are doing it.

Some times a person will finally be convicted by HS and some times they die still in their selfishness and sins. never say never because God is able :)

When the Supreme Court feels ‘obliged’ to jump in, Pence can tell them that they have ‘no standing’ in the Senate.

No it isn't, on both counts. He's about the billionth blogger to make this ridiculous argument, and he doesn't even make it particularly well.

> “ His power will be plenary and unappealable.” <

If that was even close to being true, then every Vice President would literally be a king-maker. He could accept the electoral votes he wanted to accept, and reject those he found to be “suspicious”.
