Cotton breaks with conservative colleagues who will oppose electoral vote count
The Hill ^

Posted on 01/03/2021 9:23:54 PM PST by springwater13

Cotton warned that if Congress threw out the electoral votes of states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where President Trump has alleged without evidence widespread election fraud, it would “take away the power to choose the president from the people.”

He said it would imperil the Electoral College and the voice it gives to smaller states like Arkansas and help Democrats “achieve their longstanding goal of eliminating the Electoral College.”

He said Congress if overrides the Electoral College’s vote, it would “take another big step toward federalizing election law.”

“Thus, I will not oppose the counting of certified electoral votes on Jan. 6,” he said.

Cotton is an idiot who hasn’t apparently followed any of the reality of the election.

Cotton wants to pressure the STATE LEGISLATURES to stand up and DO THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES. And Cotton did NOT say “without evidence”. The writer of the stupid, slanted article wrote those words.

You assume he's ignorant rather than complicit. I assume the latter.

The “without evidence” is false and not necessary for the article, even if it were true.

It is an example of media collusion for control of the narrative and is totalitarian.

It’s ubiquitous in all major media reflecting the ministry of truth totalitarianism.

Certifying something that is false does not make it legitimate.

Any Senator that hasnt seen the hearings, heard the witnesses, examined the forensic studies...

Is unworthy of any future respect or support from 75 million disenfranchised voters.

He’s a war-seeker opportunist who sucked up to Trump thinking it would help him.

The article ends with this fake news...
"Both chambers would have to vote to throw out a state’s electoral votes and the chances of that happening are nil as Democrats control the House. "

The house votes by state delegation in this situation, one vote per state. And Republicans have the majority of state delegations.

But there might be enough RINO's to defeat it. IDK.

Linda is right that the Republicans have to have enough evidence to convince both houses to order the commission to investigate. I think that evidence is there. Pulitzer's and other's testimony to Georgia's Senate hearing was compelling.

I don't think they have to prove enough vote fraud to overturn the election. You wouldn't need a commission to investigate further in that case.

But they need to present that there is very very suspicious activity, and that because they haven't been allowed to examine the ballots, none of the recounts or audits have been sufficient to determine there was not fraud.

I'm not sure 10 days is sufficient. But maybe once formed the commission can request more time.
