Dr Anthony Fauci has cautioned that early COVID-19 vaccines will be focused on preventing symptoms of the virus, not blocking it altogether.
Fauci, the nation's leading expert on infectious diseases, made the point on Monday as at least four vaccine candidates near the end of clinical trials and the US reported a record number of new cases in the last week.
While the end goal of the vaccines will be to eradicate the virus, Fauci noted that developers are aiming for a simpler goal in the first round of jabs.
'The primary thing you want to do is that if people get infected, prevent them from getting sick, and if you prevent them from getting sick, you will ultimately prevent them from getting seriously ill,' Fauci said at Yahoo Finance's All Markets Summit.
'If the vaccine also allows you to prevent initial infection, that would be great. [But] what I would settle for, and all of my colleagues would settle for, is the primary endpoint to prevent clinically recognizable disease.'

My niece and nephew in Orlando got the vaccine last Monday.
They report zero side effects a week later. They are thankful their Governor lowered the age for first tier people to 65.
They both have co-morbidities.
Both are feeling more secure, and have a degree of peace of mind they have not experienced since last March.

The vaccines will generally lower viral loads, as it decreases infection rates and severity. That should decrease transmission greatly.

Wife and I are 74 & 70 and intend to get the vaccine as soon as possible. I’m amazed that those who claim the vaccine causes more deaths than the virus. How totally absurd.
I keep asking for links to any deaths caused by the vaccine and no one has been able to provide them.
I should get a vaccine that does not immunize me against the virus I’m being vaccinated against?

As for the IFR (Infection Fatality Rate, Covid-assigned deaths as a % of the estimated total infections, vs. confirmed infections) in US, an official estimate of the estimated total infections in the US is very hard to find, but the CDC (Dec. 11) provided a figure of 91 Million Estimated Total Infections (Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at which time there were about 300,000 Covid-assigned deaths (figures are rounded), which would figure to be a IFR or 0.33.
Then we have the CMR Crude Morality Rate(Covid-assigned deaths as a % of the total pop.), in which 355,000 as a % of 332,000,000 is 0.11%
And with 1,828,684 Covid-assigned deaths worldwide (12–28–20) out of a total world population of 7,800,000,000 people as of March 2020, then the overall worldwide Covid-19 crude morality rate (CMR) is 0.02.

So the vaccine won’t stop you from getting COVID and they don’t know how long vaccine will last and they still want us to get it. Ah, no thanks. I’ve already had it with few symptoms.

This has been a big wake up call for her.
She, our oldest son and our grand daughter are 3 of the smartest/real people I have ever met. They can read at 500+ words per minute with perfect recall.
Yet, they are real people, and most of their friends and relatives have no idea how smart these 3 are.
Sunday and Monday, she starting discussing how impossible it was to get real scientific data on anything connected with Covid and now the vaccine.
As of now, she will probably not take the vaccine when it is offered to us. I will.
