resident Trump on Friday urged South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to launch a primary challenge against the second-ranking Senate Republican, John Thune.

“I hope to see the great Governor of South Dakota @KristiNoem, run against RINO @SenJohnThune, in the upcoming 2022 Primary. She would do a fantastic job in the U.S. Senate, but if not Kristi, others are already lining up. South Dakota wants strong leadership, NOW!” Trump tweeted.

You inadvertently make a good case for why the legislature should still be picking the senators. An ambitious state legislator sees a “popular” governor might think ‘lets kick the Guv upstairs to be senator & that will pave the way for me to be governor”.

Thune might be owned by ADM, Cargill, Monsanto, McConnell, etc.

"...it’s much quicker and easier to focus on the House for 2022."

But if the Democrats are allowed to get away with the steal, there will be no 2022, or any legitimate election ever again. And more Republicans, especially in the Senate need to realize that.

As someone who has lived in Washington State for 40 years, let me tell you --- a good Governor is hard to find. You have a great one in Noem. Let her stay for another term. You guys have retained your Constitutional Rights under her governance; and, that is a lot more than many of the States have allowed their citizens.

Why shoot for Senator -- go for POTUS, she has run a State, she is qualified.

How has Thune been voting over the years from a Trump point of view? Generally good? Bad enough to merit draining funds from other races to oppose him?

That was me in 2004 and the first time I’d contributed to a candidate. Now I’d like to support to his replacement but really don’t see a viable challenger. Will contribute, canvas, call, whatever I can do to keep Kristi as Governor. She’s got a big out of state target on her back.

Wonder what they have on him?

They don't need to "have" anything on him; they just need to "show him the money". I think money is the most corrupting influence in the politics of D.C. How do so many normal people go to D.C. and end up coming out of there as millionaires? They don't represent us, they represent whoever bought them.

I like DeSantis. Being Governor of Florida is good prep for the White House.

Being a governor, period, is good experience because it is an "executive" position.

I remember when the media was going all out to smear Sarah Palin. My hubby said something that really stuck with me. He voted for McCain/Palin -- but his vote was for Palin. Why? Because, in his words, "she was the only one with "executive" experience."

Trump has loads of executive experience. Biden has "swamp" experience.

Kristi Noem has "executive" experience. She could handle the job of Potus -- I am convinced of that. And, the American public would be better off for her governance.

However, I also like DeSantis a lot. Again, he had enough confidence in the citizens of his State to go easy on them; but, give them the info so they could make their own choices.

Kristi Noem is a rising star in the GOP. She should skip The Senate and start working on a 2024 run. Now.

“I wouldn’t last half a day in the Senate before I walked out and drowned myself in the Potomac River.”

One thing Christie is right about!

I like Noem too, but South Dakota and Florida are world’s apart in terms of the challenges the Governor faces.

DeSantis/Noem would be the Dream Ticket, IMHO.

I’m not Chris Christie’s biggest fan, but he sure had it right on this one. When a reporter asked him why he didn’t want to run for the Senate after his term as governor in New Jersey ended, he said: “I wouldn’t last half a day in the Senate before I walked out and drowned myself in the Potomac River.”

You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!

The Senate? No. There is a reason only two presidents have come out of The Senate in the last sixty years (JFK and obozo). The Senate is all about process, process, process. People like Schumer and McConnell are built to play that game, and in The Senate they remain.

If he doesn’t morph into the typical RINO, Josh Hawley is a dynamite example of a conservative politician. Wish we had a few dozen like him to challenge the jerks we have in the Senate now.
