You are on the right track for sure with Ron DeSantis but consider Josh Hawley as well.

At the 10 year mark they are “absorbed” into the “system” if they don’t already start out that way (Rats start out that way!) Usually they don’t realize it. The “system” consists of the “Beltway interests”, “their personal interests” so very little is left over - “crumbs” for their state or congressional district interests.

Incumbent-itis.

Term limits is the only solution but we will never get that through Congress. It has to come from the outside, i.e. a Convention of the States.

We need governors with executive experience.

No more Senators.

[ Kristi Noem is a rising star in the GOP. She should skip The Senate and start working on a 2024 run. Now. ]

Noen already stated that she isn’t challenging Thune. Its clear she has her (gorgeous) eyes set on the WH in 2024.

I KNOW! What in the world is WRONG with them? If Biden prevails, it is OVER. How can they not know that? If they don’t care for themselves, don’t they care about their kids’ futures?

Jump outside that Skinner Box. Secure ballot box and informed citizenry to properly vett.

Agree !

Two consecutive terms in the senate (12 years) then must sit out a term (6 years) to return to the senate.

5 consecutive terms in the House (10 years) then must sit out a 2 terms (4 years) to return to the House.

Most of these guys if they are out of office for any length of time they’d disappear off the political landscape. Meaning if they couldn’t generate “look-at-me” political propaganda at taxpayer expense they’d fade back into the population.

My preference is they be forced somehow to go home. Go back to their state or district and live under the laws they made. If the must be politicians go back and be governor, county commissioner, state legislator, mayor. If they’re really desperate get a private sector job, but above go home ! And Beltway jobs don’t count !

Never happen, I believed she’s already discussed not running for higher office.
She’s a smart country girl and wants no part of the DC swamp.

She’s going to run for POTUS and disappointingly already gave a “vote of confidence” to the corrupt Thune after Trump’s first tweet about him.

Why should they be allowed to return to office?

Give them a 20 year maximum in the House and Senate combined, whether of continuous or fragmented service. Twelve years max in the House or Senate. So the limit would six terms in the House and two terms in the Senate or any combination not to exceed 20 years total. I could even go for lower limits.

Because I would like to see such a thing passed !

You have to throw the “professional politicians” a bone, that’s just the practical side of things.

It’s unfortunate we have a class of “professional politician” but we do and they’re not going away. They’re the busy-bodies that are just going to “save the world” and you from yourself. So you have to have something that “manages” that ambition hopefully to a better end.

A governor is an executive who functions in a leadership capacity 24 hours a day.

A senator is a loser who makes deals all day with a bunch of other losers in the same legislative body.

There are two completely different personalities that gravitate to these positions.

Thune used to be a much better above average Republican Senator. Wonder what they have on him?

I recall the same thing. However, even the good Thune of my memory wouldn't get my vote against Noem.
