“Silly me. I thought those guys were there to get an education.”
The colleges have converted to on-line teaching but still charging full fair rates and paying the bureaucrats and professors full time salaries. They are like government employees, who rule over us but are not impacted by their decisions. It would be nice if the college bubble were broken.
It exists as a pretext for gambling, and never mind the hypocritical fig leaf.
It should be eliminated. As was proposed in the 1920s before Knute Rockne was so eloquent on the wrong side.
I'm boycotting all other sports.
Same here. I'm not boycotting. I just don't have a strong enough stomach to subject myself to their wokeness. The only sport I follow now is golf.
Yea!! - college football (booo! - NFL)
Haha, UNC was very fortunate to have the college basketball season canceled during the ACC Tournament last year. Hopefully they have made a few improvements since then...
The irony is that the most prominent parts of the major elite sports universities are nothing more than glorified trade schools. College football has become the developmental league for the NFL while college basketball has become the developmental leagues for the NBA and WNBA. Instead of teaching the students how to become carpenters or auto mechanics like most trade schools, they are being taught the skills of football or basketball. Sure, they have to attend academic classes but no major sports factory takes that seriously at all as long as their precious APR scores don't fall below a critical level.
The NFL, NBA, and WNBA really need to develop their own minor league system like major league baseball has. That way athletes who have absolutely no business being a student at a major university can develop their athletic skills. "Student-athletes" should be just that and in that order. If someone cannot make it into a university on their academic ability, their athletic ability should not get them in.
It didn’t matter. They wound up with the same damn playoff.
Bama
Clemson
Joe Biden State
either Notre Dame or Oklahoma
It’s a rigged process and that was telegraphed when they put in Joe Biden State. Texas A&M and Cincinnati were more deserving.
I’ve not followed the season as much as usual.
How did Joe Biden get Ohio State into the CFP?
Didn’t Trump win Ohio by a larger margin than Texas?
Well, sort of.
The Bowl Lineup was pathetic this year.
I thought the most compelling game I watched all season was the otherwise meaningless Rutgers vs Michigan contest. (I do not bet and have no particular interest in either team.)
ML/NJ
What a shame. Their kneeling and endless ‘only black lives matter’ crap should have destroyed them all completely. Sadly, too many people are all in favor of bread and circuses no matter what.
“Folks, I’m a zealous God and I’ve noticed that you all are putting your sports addiction in the place where I ought to be’
so God gets upset about being upstaged by college football, but can’t be bothered to do anything about abortion...
Bowl Games are the NIT of college football.....nobody cares.
True, Trump won Ohio.
I call them Joe Biden State because they only played half a season (five games plus the conference championship) while the other teams played ten or eleven to qualify.
Joe Biden State hardly bothers to show up and they STILL get into the playoffs. Total sham.
Very few het an education in college. The top tier athletes are encouraged not to.
Hope they have to pay the players soon.
I hope Bama destroys Ohio State. It’s BS they got in with so few games.
I’m glad we don’t have to play that fruity looking Clemson QB again.
“so God gets upset about being upstaged by college football, but can’t be bothered to do anything about abortion...”
