McConnell at the Bridge
Wall Street Journal ^ | Dec. 29, 2020 | The Editorial Board

Posted on 12/30/2020 8:35:18 AM PST by Anti-Bubba182

President Trump has always put his personal interests above nearly everything else, and Republicans are paying the political price. Mr. Trump lost his re-election bid to Joe Biden, and now he may cost Republicans the Senate too.

Mr. Trump lost his re-election bid even as Republicans did better down-ballot because more voters liked his policies than liked him. The President hewed to a largely conservative agenda as long as he needed to maintain GOP support. But now that he’ll soon leave Washington, he’s throwing that over to punish Republicans and anyone else who refuses to indulge his fantasies about overturning the election.

That’s the only explanation for his decision to join Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer in pushing for $2,000 Covid relief checks after his own negotiators had settled for $600 and the bill had passed Congress. Mr. Trump is trying to punish Mitch McConnell, the Majority Leader, and John Thune, a member of the Senate leadership, because they have recognized that Mr. Biden won the election.......

The WSJ is catastrophically wrong here. Trump knows how the $600 is received in a bill laden with pork. Not passing $2,000 stands to lose Georgia with both Democrats staunchly supporting it and Schumer absolutely backing them. In desperate times people will gravitate toward what gives them income. Deficit hawk arguments against the $2,000 relief pale against the prospect of Democrat control of the Senate.

Democrats could change the rules to end the filibuster, pack the Supreme Court, even add Democrat leaning states. All of this is possible even probable if the GOP loses the Senate.

“President Trump WON the presidential election. LIARS !”

President won, Senate held seats they were expected to lose and they made unexpected gains in the house. All of the WINS were unexpected because the media and big tech LIED to us for years.

LIARS, you are correct.

President Trump has always put his personal interests above nearly everything else,

This is why we need Mandatory Drug and Alcohol screening for presstitutes, furthermore there should be severe criminal penalties for publishing deliberate false statements masquerading as "NEWS"

WSJ is Foxnews. They are part of the MSM. Calling them just “wrong” implies you are taking their content seriously.

Oh nonsense he’s not punishing anyone.
He wants the additional money for taxpayers and I’m sure that’s a combination of legitimate concern and a political calculation that Americans want the money.

You can disagree, but he isn’t doing it out of selfishness or to hurt anybody.

WSJ board are a bunch of free border snakes in the grass.

Suddenly McConnell is our new icon? I think not.

And their jab at why Trump “lost” is just backstabbing.

Typical leftist cr@p.

The freaking democrat controlled HOUSE rolled out this pork laden, billions for other countries, 600 peanuts for Americans bill.

If Trump had signed it as is, they would have raked him over the coals. Since he signed it with red lines, asking for $2k for Americans, they are raking him over the coals.

No matter what he does, the left spews vitriol at and about him. They are evil

And in other news from the MSM —

Some people DENY the fact that Trump is LITERALLY Hitler.
But the WSJ can now say that his been debunked.

I just realized their claim about the election is that the GOP establishment is better liked than Trump.

Uh not even close.

And Trump may be egotistical but he never put himself in front of the country. ALL of his policies are pro American.

He could have easily put himself first and sold out. He never did.

I wonder what the post election subscription numbers are for WSJ. Murdoch has seen Fox collapse. Hopefully he is seeing the same for WSJ and NYPost.
