Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, a rising star in the Democratic Party who was recently considered for a position in President-elect Joe Biden's cabinet, is coming under fire for her administration's handling of a surge in violent crime in her city.
Saying she was 'open to suggestions' on stopping the crime wave, the mayor was on the defensive over the holiday weekend after three people were fatally shot in the city, bringing Atlanta's homicide count to its highest in more than two decades.

Total arrests are down 30% YTD DEC 2020 compared to 2019.
Murder is up 58%. Aggrevated assault is up 14%. Auto theft up 4%.
Traffic stops are down 34% and violations down 43%. Traffic arrests are down 40%....sorry, not buying that drivers in the ATL have somehow improved this much. The police have simply curtailed writing tickets.
Other categories such as robbery, burglary and larceny show decreases, but I think that's probably more of a case of these not being reported.
Bottoms wants to know what the problem is?
Hon, it's a culture thing....specifically a black culture thing.
She may recall how her party has tossed the police under the bus and then backed up over them.
She may recall the blue flu this summer.
She only need look in the mirror to see the problem.
Everyone knows how to how to stop crime in Atlanta.
Defund the police. It’s so simple.

After four years of Biden, there will be significant parts of America that will look like most of Mexico. Gangs will control them, the police will stay out without the help of the Army, and anyone who still lives there will work for the gangs.
Once you reach the stage where tourism is scared off....the big dollars and tourism industry will spiral downward, and they can start cutting the city budget by 10-percent. I wouldn’t even step out of the doors of the airport...just transfer to another airline and fly out 200 miles away to avoid any issues in Atlanta.

Didn’t someone write a book, about a number of things we aren’t allowed to say in America?
This is one such topic. We aren’t allowed to say certain things about black criminal activity, lest we be called a racist. Even a black woman such as this mayor is afraid to say things out loud which would be perceived as racist.
So among the results, is that problems can’t be solved, because we aren’t allowed to have frank discussions about the real problems, and possible solutions, because of fear of being called racist.
The problem obviously is that the 69% black Atlanta police force are obviously pushing white supremacy.
Crime can never be stopped when you have elected officials and prosecutors viewing the crime from the perspective of the criminal and ultimately sympathizing with that criminal. Soft on crime has devolved into complicit with crime. Then again these same people have indulged and condoned massive graft, corruption and election fraud. They are just extending professional courtesy to their base.

The crime in Atlanta is not that bad. People can have guns and people with money have been moving there constantly. I would not be surprised that crime has been cut in half over the last 4 years. The worst area, the Bluff, is totally different and way safer... The Antifa stuff was overblown... Maybe she is looking to find a way to take their guns.
The obvious thing to do is not to back off policing.
IF she were smart she'd be telling the truth to the inhabitants of the ATL.
The culture, specifically the black culture, has to change.
Rap songs about shooting police, raping hos, etc....has to go.
The lack of respect for police officers has to change.
I remember the two kids who were stopped for being out after the curfew and how they acted. Screaming like they were being tortured.
Bottoms should have stood by the police and told those kids the curfew as clear as to what would happen if you were out after the curfew.
She will refuse to see it though.

I expect well-to-do areas in these cities to start paying for their own private police forces in the near future. Actually, that does happen in Latin America.
Sane middle-class people will move to semi-rural/rural areas with functioning Sheriffs’ departments.
