Two shots are quite acceptable, and depending on your choice of caliber may be necessary.. and if you are trained in the Mozambique Drill then two shots shows restraint not waste..
The Mozambique Drill is intended to ensure that the target is immediately stopped, by first placing two shots into the larger, easier-to-hit mass of the upper body, then, if the target is still active, following with a third, more precisely aimed and difficult head shot. Due to factors such as body armor, the bolstering effect of drugs, or failure to hit vital organs, the body shots may not be immediately effective, necessitating the third shot. To guarantee instant incapacitation by impacting the brain and central nervous system, the head shot must be delivered to the area between eyebrows and upper lip, otherwise, various bony areas of the skull could deflect the bullet.
Wish him well on his defense...
"Police confiscated the robbery suspect's gun and the gun belonging to the concealed carry permit holder."
Exactly. The good Samaritan will be lucky to ever see his weapon again.

Once a gun is displayed by the perp, no one knows what he'll do next.
The citizen chose wisely.
Exactly. The good Samaritan will be lucky to ever see his weapon again.
Yup. The police doing their job to make sure there is another unarmed victim out there. It'll probably be stored in a barrel of molecular acid.
I was thinking something more like the ELCA or other trendy leftist denomination.
This is why you have backups for your backups.
The situation had escalated. The robbery suspect was using
a gun.
You kill someone and you’ll find out in the next decades how far situations can “escalate.”
This ain’t Hollywood. The curtain doesn’t come down after two hours.
Kill some dipstick loser for robbing somebody’s cell phone store?
Nope.
If he has a gun trained on the proprietor or staff, hell yes.
If that’s a member of your family being threatened, you’ll
just let the robber kill them?
Sorry, bub.
I don’t lose my life or freedom or house even pay lawyers for the “proprietor or staff” of a two-bit cell phone outfit.
Not quite sure about your last question. Naturally we defend family.
I am not in the business of killing people.
You go ahead and defend “Boost Mobile” or whatever to the death.
I applaud you - but -
Not my bag.
This isn’t about the cost of goods, or protecting someone
else’s inventory or defending a particular brand or store.
The robber had a gun on the guy at the cash register who
happened to be the owner.
You keep trying to make this between you and I, and the
value of the goods, or the name of the concern.
It’s about another human being’s life on the line.
One guy is innocent here, and the other has shown he is
willing to take the innocent man’s life.
Yes, I would opt to help save the innocent man’s life
if I had a clear shot.
I don’t like the idea of killing someone, but I like the
idea of standing by and allowing an innocent person to be
shot dead, a whole lot less.
“Chicago? Concealed carry permit? He must know someone.”
Nope. Take the class, pay the fee, pass the background check, get your permit.
Chicago is a Shall Issue jurisdiction as is all of Illinois.
L
I understand your noble position.
At the same time I know how people’s lives are ruined after pulling that trigger.
If the bad guy doesn’t fire a shot, I sure as heck am not going to take his life for a hundred bucks or some chinese cell phones, and then go to jail or look over my shoulder for the rest of my life.
I have kids to raise and a family to support.
Nope, I would simply lie down, be ready to draw, hope for the best, and wait for the vermin to leave.
As it turns out, you wouldn't take his life to save an
innocent human being either.
I would not fire the first shot, no.
Not unless I was certain there was a real threat to life.
But, it takes all kinds.
I’m not interested in starting a gunfight in a cell phone store.
You go ahead, though - hopefully things will turn out okay.
