BBC: Jesus was 'Palestinian,' despite term's use century after crucifixion
JERUSALEM POST ^ | ECEMBER 28, 2020

Posted on 12/28/2020 12:22:55 PM PST by SJackson

References to Jesus as "Palestinian" were also made on the December 13th edition of BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Sunday Morning,’ without any explicit mention of Jesus' Jewish identity.

The BBC World Service radio program Heart and Soul aired a program titled "Black Jesus" on December 18, in which presenter Robert Beckford claimed that Jesus was a "Palestinian," despite the term only coming into use some 100 years after the crucifixion.

Throughout the program, Beckford noted accurately that artistic depictions of Jesus as blonde and European are historically inaccurate. But when discussing his national identity, the presenter referred to Jesus numerous times as a "first-century Palestinian Jew," whereby the term "Palestinian" only came into common use 100 years after his death following the Bar Kokhba Revolt against the Roman Empire.

The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA) highlighted the inaccuracy in a report earlier this year criticizing The New York Times, noting that, “during the time of Jesus, Bethlehem and Jerusalem were in what was commonly called Judea and Nazareth [which were] in what was commonly called the Galilee. The land where Jesus lived did not take on the name Palestine until the second century, well after his death. Thus, the notion of “first-century Palestine”… is totally fictional.

"In 132 CE, approximately 100 years after the crucifixion of Jesus, the Jews fought against Roman rule for a second time in what is known as the Bar Kokhba Revolt," the report continued. "After the Romans defeated the rebellious Jews in 135, they renamed the land of the Jews Palestina to punish the Jews and to make an example of them to other peoples considering rebellion. The Romans took away the Jewish name, Judea, and replaced it with the name of an ancient enemy the Jews despised. The Philistines were an extinct Aegean people whom the Jews had historically loathed as uncultured and barbaric.”

References to Jesus as "Palestinian" were also made on the December 13th edition of BBC Radio Scotland’s Sunday Morning, without any explicit mention of Jesus' Jewish identity, according to CAMERA. The organization said it intends to ask the BBC to clarify the historical inaccuracies with a formal request.

The article says they were Aegean - as in Greek?

Bethlehem was not in Philistia.

artistic depictions of Jesus as blonde and European are historically inaccurate. . .

How do they pretend to know? Got hair samples?

Fun facts include: Galatia and Galilee are named after the Gauls. Gauls (i.e., Celts) came in a variety of shades.

Another fun fact: We all knew the North African Berbers were Celts. But I read recently that the Moors were also.

So, the Moorish invasion of Spain in the 8th century was basically a Celt-on-Celt war--Moslem vs. Christian.

* Beckford noted accurately that artistic depictions of Jesus as blonde and European are historically inaccurate.*

Beckford is an idiot.

Mohammed was ery fair-skinned. As was Cleopatra who was more Macedonian Greek than anything. The royal women of Babylon were considered fair-skinned as were Aaryan Persians/Syrians, Byzenteniums and Sumarians. Romans and Greeks (and Vikings) interplayed with the middle east over centuries so it would be silly to say there was no mixing of genetics with the early Jewish population, much less imply that Jews were other than light-skinned, based solely on their appearance in modern Israel.

Research:
“We highlight three findings of interest. First, an allele (G) at rs12913832 near the OCA2 gene, with a proven association to blue eye color in individuals of European descent40, has an estimated alternative allele frequency of 49% in the Levant_ChL population, suggesting that the blue-eyed phenotype was common in the Levant_ChL.
“Second, an allele at rs1426654 in the SLC24A5 gene which is one of the most important determinants of light pigmentation in West Eurasians41 is fixed for the derived allele (A) in the Levant_ChL population suggesting that a light skinned phenotype may have been common in this population, although any inferences about skin pigmentation based on allele frequencies observed at a single site need to be viewed with caution42.”
“Third, an allele (G) at rs6903823 in the ZKSCAN3 and ZSCAN31 genes which is absent in all early agriculturalists reported to date (Levant_N, Anatolia_N, Iran_N) and that has been argued to have been under positive selection by Mathieson et al.31, occurs with an estimated frequency of 20% in the Levant_ChL, 17% in the Levant_BA_South, and 15% in the Iran_ChL populations, while it is absent in all other populations. This suggests that the allele was rising in frequency in Chalcolithic and Bronze Age Near Eastern populations at the same time as it was rising in frequency in Europe.”

He is not only historically incorrect, but also politically as well.

I don’t listen to him, thankfully.

People are easily deceived. The real Jesus is accessible. Read the Bible
Go to a church that is sound biblically, theologically, and liturgically. Develop a spiritual discipline. Ground yourself, and know what you believe and why.

My wife’s cousin shared a FB post about that “Christmas Star” planetary conversion. I was astounded at how many people believed that to be a sign of a new era of peace and goodness about to break upon us. In light of the talk about a global reset, that belief in a sign is troubling.

David Jeremiah knows the Antichrist is coming.

That being said, he’s embedded in the People’s Republic of Coddyfornia (no offense to California conservatives - we’re stuck in the middle of a bunch of liberals here in the Midwest, too).

You know, “flyover country” to the Democrats.

[In light of the talk about a global reset, that belief in a sign is troubling.]

Yes. The world continues to be prepped for the arrival (or debut) of the Antichrist.

I expect more of this type of nonsense. I expect they’ll get their New World Order, too.

Daniel 8:23 calls it as the fourth (political) beast. A certainty that it will arise, really.

Oops the reference to the fourth (political) beast is Daniel 7:23.

This verse from Daniel 7 is just one reason I’m confident of this, as well. There will be a powerful one-world government. /adjusts tinfoil hat

=====

Daniel 7:23 King James Version

23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon Earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole Earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

Daniel 8:23 refers to the Antichrist (though not named exactly) - he is the king of fierce countenance

====

Daniel 8:23 King James Version

23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

All one has to do, to shut-down libtards love of Palis, is to ask to see “Palestinian” culture, prior to 1963. It doesn’t exist, and they are speechless and angry.

[But, we ALL killed Jesus (as I’m fond of saying). He was Crucified for OUR sins; for OUR transgressionS.]

sigh

No such thing as a Palestinian. Made up nationality from assholes kicked out of Jordan and Egypt Christ lineage is Jewish. If he was a “Palestinian, he wouldn’t have been crucified, he would have blown himself up!

Uh. Was that in fact wrong? He might have also been Jewish, with a whole lot of north African blood, and maybe even some African Berber. It was no more unexpected then than it is now. Why would that be an issue?

What blood of the Christ is one worried about? I’m quite sure he didn’t look like a northern European.

Pretty sure there weren’t any Jews in Palestine (the the geographical region, not the political region) their either.

There’s a whole tribal pissing match that’s been going on for decades, but not centuries.
