BBC: Jesus was 'Palestinian,' despite term's use century after crucifixion
JERUSALEM POST ^ | ECEMBER 28, 2020

Posted on 12/28/2020 12:22:55 PM PST by SJackson

References to Jesus as "Palestinian" were also made on the December 13th edition of BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Sunday Morning,’ without any explicit mention of Jesus' Jewish identity.

The BBC World Service radio program Heart and Soul aired a program titled "Black Jesus" on December 18, in which presenter Robert Beckford claimed that Jesus was a "Palestinian," despite the term only coming into use some 100 years after the crucifixion.

Throughout the program, Beckford noted accurately that artistic depictions of Jesus as blonde and European are historically inaccurate. But when discussing his national identity, the presenter referred to Jesus numerous times as a "first-century Palestinian Jew," whereby the term "Palestinian" only came into common use 100 years after his death following the Bar Kokhba Revolt against the Roman Empire.

The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA) highlighted the inaccuracy in a report earlier this year criticizing The New York Times, noting that, “during the time of Jesus, Bethlehem and Jerusalem were in what was commonly called Judea and Nazareth [which were] in what was commonly called the Galilee. The land where Jesus lived did not take on the name Palestine until the second century, well after his death. Thus, the notion of “first-century Palestine”… is totally fictional.

"In 132 CE, approximately 100 years after the crucifixion of Jesus, the Jews fought against Roman rule for a second time in what is known as the Bar Kokhba Revolt," the report continued. "After the Romans defeated the rebellious Jews in 135, they renamed the land of the Jews Palestina to punish the Jews and to make an example of them to other peoples considering rebellion. The Romans took away the Jewish name, Judea, and replaced it with the name of an ancient enemy the Jews despised. The Philistines were an extinct Aegean people whom the Jews had historically loathed as uncultured and barbaric.”

References to Jesus as "Palestinian" were also made on the December 13th edition of BBC Radio Scotland’s Sunday Morning, without any explicit mention of Jesus' Jewish identity, according to CAMERA. The organization said it intends to ask the BBC to clarify the historical inaccuracies with a formal request.

Palestine was never a nation.

It’s a region. Like America.

No one is an American Citizen.

We are United States Citizens.

Do an image search for blonde Jesus and you’ll find plenty. A common depiction in the middle ages and renaissance. Mostly dark blond which you could call light brown. Dark brown and black too. Of course a similar search for black Jesus has plenty of results too, relatively more recent.

Yup. They only used the term after the surviving Jews from the Holocaust travelled to make that land Israel.

never any just Palestinians until Yassar Arafat came up with the designation. The people now claiming to be Palestinian are in face, Jordanian.

I have a Jewish friend who lives in Israel. He’s quite positive about Arabs in general, but claims that the Palestinians are essentially lower-caste Arabs, gypsies of a sort, nothing but useful political pawns.

I guess Jesus can be whatever anyone wants him to be, Christian Scripture and tradition notwithstanding. Everyone understands Jesus except his followers.

My wife and kids are Jewish. I’m almost Jewish, in that I grew up in a Jewish house (mom converted for stepdad) and my family is Jewish.

My lovely daughter (13) told me matter of factory that Jesus was probably black.

I looked at her and said “you have been to Israel. How many black people did you see?” She paused and said huh. Then we had a nice discussion about how he was a middle eastern Jew.

She is getting this crap from her BLM classmates. It’s infuriating.

palestinians are wandering lower class arabs, whom even the upper class arabs want nothing to do with- evidently- arab nations have millions upon millions of acres of land, plenty to give to the wandering arabs, but nope- they won’t give em anything- instead the wandering nation-less arabs who call themselves palestinians have to zero in on a spit of land not much bigger than the size of N.J, because Jews own it.

The Brits and the Church of England have been a bunch of “belief in God optional” types for decades.

[but claims that the Palestinians are essentially lower-caste Arabs, gypsies of a sort, nothing but useful political pawns.]

I personally believe that’s correct. Dave Hunt (RIP) noted that Kuwait deported 300,000 Palestinians and that the U.N. basically yawned.

Because they’re only used as political pawns against the state of Israel.

For Muslims, He (”he” for them) is a “prophet” subservient to Mohammed and certainly not the Son of God. Completely contrary to Scripture.

This is yet another way the world gets to the Antichrist, who will claim to be messiah.

Dave Hunt (again RIP) believed he will be a “false jesus” (little “j” on purpose). That way he’ll be perceived to work for all of them.

I expect this man will go to Salt Lake City, Utah, and Independence, Missouri, possibly even the so-called Adam-Ondi-Ahman near Gallatin, Missouri to “prove” he’s “the messiah”.

Until the 1960s, ‘Palestinian’ standing alone meant a Jew. I’ve seen British Mandate IDs that say Palestinian when the person was a Jew. Arabs were identified as Arabs.

Money was Palestine pound, The Jerusalem Post, Jewish owned, originated as the Palestine Post.

“Understanding” Jesus is also missing the point.
