The wheels on the nation's buses aren't going round and round very much these days.
Demand for bus travel has fallen by more than 80 percent during the pandemic as public health authorities urge people to avoid travel where possible.
That is raising concerns about the potential long-term damage to an essential transport method for millions of lower-income Americans even as air travel has shown signs of picking up since the Thanksgiving holiday period.
And those who have to take the bus, for whatever reason, are finding fewer options, and often higher prices as a result.

Never had a bus trip that wasn’t hellish. Why do they take 8 hours to make a 4 hour trip with only 3 stops? Rolling mental wards...

Does not affect the Indian casino buses here in Socal. I have gambler friends here who took the rides even as late as last week. They hand you 10 chips & vouchers just by boarding, you dont have to waste gas on the distance.
Is the bus THAT much cheaper than air travel?
Lower income will find the money to fly, especially younger than 50ish.
It’s mostly the rich and government who have these preconceived notions.

Every time an American looked at an item for where it was made in it came from China. Now China’s reliance making everything was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products. When Americans hailed their leaders decision to make many of them in their country US. Their politburo worried.
Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies , as in Hong Kong, since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present Trump’s name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader Donald Trump.
Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy and create defeat for that leader’s upcoming election.

Key swamp demons were making fortunes when they allowed US companies in a number of industries including pharma, computer; and electrical as well metal fabrication components even bicycles relocate their factories in China . To the point where China was our sole supplier. Last year my son lost his job when the company went bankrupt. A few minutes later he totaled his truck when he drove over an iced up sinkhole. We had a spare car so he was going to fly home to get it. One way ticket was $500. A bus ticket was $80. What the heck, his life was already a country song. Might as well toss in a 20 hour Greyhound ride.

We could extract justice by incorporating the Greyhound bus into our justice system.
A prosecutor during plea bargaining will tell a defendant who murdered a dozen people. “If we take this deal, you can get the death penalty or life in prison, if it goes to trial, the jury will sentence you to a coast to coast trip on a Greyhound Bus.”
Yes, I understand there are 8th Amendment violations there.

I was hoping bus companies won’t require a Covid vaccine passport before buying a ticket.
That would make them more attractive than airlines, at least for me.

I can spend 2 hrs and 48 minutes taking a non-stop flight from San Antonio to LA for 249.00
Can you travel anonymously on a bus?
A Greyhound bus trip is a learning experience, that’s for sure.
On my last trip the fun began immediately. The only seat was next to a guy who seemed to be zonked out on prescription meds. Right off the bat he spilled his Sprite on me. That pretty much set the tone for the whole adventure.
Glad I took those trips though. Interesting experiences.

Greyhound has very cheap shipping rates. I shipped a set of antique car wheels to Nevada.
UPS wanted $210. Greyhound was $87.00
