Home Office admits it has 'lost' 37,000 migrants in Britain who have skipped their immigration bail conditions or fled from detention centres

Official figures show the Home Office cannot trace tens of thousands of people who have either skipped their immigration bail conditions or fled from detention centres.

Last night, campaigners seized on the data, which was released under Freedom of Information laws, as proof that Britain’s immigration system is not being properly enforced.

Alp Mehmet, chairman of Migration Watch UK, said: ‘This is a shocking failure. It is ridiculous to intercept those crossing the Channel illegally or after they emerge from the back of lorries, only to turn them loose to disappear into the undergrowth of the shadow economy.

It simply makes it easy for potential absconders. This gap in immigration control can easily be plugged with more effective enforcement and better use of detention. If only the political will were there to do it.’

Some foreign citizens – including asylum seekers, those caught entering the UK unlawfully and those overstaying their visa – are meant to report regularly to immigration centres or police stations if there are potential grounds to deport them.

But the Home Office figures show 37,302 foreign nationals living in the UK had disappeared over the past three decades up to the end of September this year.

The vast majority were categorised as ‘in-country absconders’ who had either failed to keep in contact with officials or disappeared from detention centres. Some 134 were termed ‘port absconders’, which means they had managed to evade border controls without permission to enter the UK.

The total – equivalent to the population of towns the size of Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire or Redcar in North Yorkshire – is likely to be much higher because it does not include missing children and vulnerable adults.

The curious thing here, if you think about it...they aren’t being noticed anywhere. They don’t have bank accounts. They aren’t paying into any tax situation. No pension situation. No car ownership. They don’t travel outside of the country. And one has to imagine that they aren’t getting in crime trouble because then they’d be picked up and noted. All probably on ‘black’ work...low income situation.

I wish it was only 37,000 here in the US. Instead our incompetent or treasonous elected officials, unelected officials, and government workers have allowed, even invited in, between 30 and 60 MILLION.

How and can this be undone? Despite my highest hopes in Trump, he failed to deport even a fraction of these illegal aliens. I think the last statistic I saw showed Obama having deported more!

Those are all some pretty bold assumptions on your part.

Bank accounts: False names, false numbers, false IDs.

Taxes: You're right, of course; they wouldn't be paying any taxes if they could possibly avoid it.

Motor vehicles: They are sure to "be in possession" of some vehicles - just not legally (no "papers," no insurance).

International travel: Well, they got into England, didn't they? So they could conceivably also get out again, by slipping through the system.

Criminal activity: Wrong to assume that, because they haven't been caught, they must be law-abiding. They just haven't been caught.

As I said: A lot of bold assumptions on your part.

These U.S. failures are sure to alarm authorities when a foreign language appears on every commodity.

Screening visa departures would’ve helped.

The national ID card would be a problem to overcome. You might have a fake card and walk around for several years making it work....but just one stupid mistake and someone running a full check of it...would render it useless.

On getting a car, without papers, trying to register it or having no insurance? Maybe in Bolivia or Mexico or California that might work, but I’d question how you’d get away with this for a number of years in the UK.

International travel? Passing out or re-entering, you’d just be begging for one of the border-check guys to do a double-check of the fake passport, and halt your entry/exit. Every single trip would be a risk to make.

As for criminal behavior? If you were a drug-dealer, your potential to bump into a policeman at least once a year is probably 50-percent or higher. No ID or fake ID? You just push your risk factor up another notch.

But why limit this chatter to just the UK? That Chinese couple who walked off the Chinese tour bus at Neuschwanstein four years ago comes to mind. They left their Chinese passport with the guide. Totally disappeared into the German landscape in a matter of sixty minutes. Never another word about them.

I would imagine a minimum of 1k Chinese ‘guests’ exist in Germany. Same deal....they haven’t announced themselves and have enough cash to easily live quiet/safe lives. They aren’t employed via criminal enterprises or dealing drugs. I doubt if they are concerned with international travel or purchasing cars.

Yes, most will slip into the EU before Brexit is finalized. That gives them over 2 dozen nations to travel within versus being trapped in the UK.

I watched a number of episodes on YT of UK Border Patrol and noted an oddity. If the BP agents cannot find the illegal’s passport, said illegal is released with a “promise” to check in (since the BP cannot determine the country to deport to).

The results are the same as catch and release here: in the wind.

So illegals in the UK go to great lengths to hide their passports.

One thing they do in the UK is fine the hell out of the employing business,no matter how small. Big enough to hurt. Reduces repeat offenders.

The national ID card would be a problem to overcome. You might have a fake card and walk around for several years making it work....but just one stupid mistake and someone running a full check of it...would render it useless.

Solution: Run away, disappear into the crowd, or get caught and be released without bail, then disappear into the crowd.

On getting a car, without papers, trying to register it or having no insurance? Maybe in Bolivia or Mexico or California that might work, but I’d question how you’d get away with this for a number of years in the UK.

Solution: Maintain a low profile. If you get stopped by cops, yell "racist!" and/or run into the bushes. If you are apprehended, get released and then disappear.

International travel? Passing out or re-entering, you’d just be begging for one of the border-check guys to do a double-check of the fake passport, and halt your entry/exit. Every single trip would be a risk to make.

Solution: Accept that risk is a part of life. Try hiding out in the wheel-wells of 747s, etc.

As for criminal behavior? If you were a drug-dealer, your potential to bump into a policeman at least once a year is probably 50-percent or higher. No ID or fake ID? You just push your risk factor up another notch.

Oh, my! Risk! Gee, why did I ever become an illegal alien? It's so risky! Oh, well: Another day at the "illegal alien" office!

In short: Never said that it would be safe and comfy - just possible. And if 90% are caught and deported within a year - no problemo; there are plenty more where that came from!

Regards,
