A Texas congressman is blaming a security breach for following a $1,500-an-hour New York City escort on Twitter — telling critics to “grow up” after being called out for the unseemly link.
Rep. Dan Crenshaw — a married Republican and former Navy SEAL who was elected to Congress in 2018 — scoffed at claims that he followed escort Olivia May intentionally on Thursday when a reporter posted a screenshot showing that he was among her 13,600 followers.

Crenshaw might actually be innocent here (seriously). On my Facebook page* a list of potential friends will occasionally come up. Some are people I know. Some are friends of people I know.
But some are complete, 100% strangers. And they usually are young ladies. How they get on my list, I don’t know. Maybe they pay Facebook. Anyway, tap the wrong button by mistake, and you are friends with some stranger. It’s quite possible.
* Yeah, I know. I shouldn’t be on Facebook. But it’s the only why to stay connected with my younger relatives. So it’s a risk I take. And you can bet I’m careful what I say there.

As a networking and fundraising tool, social media is great. If someone wants to connect with you, you accept them. NOBODY that is trying to monetize relationships (i.e, fundraising for the next campaign, etc) does a background check on friend requests. Yes, I know there are those out there that “purge” their friend lists regularly, but they live in a different realm than public figures. I can guarantee you that any public figure that has more than 1000 friends on any platform has at least 50% of them that they have never met or even heard of.
What has he done that you don’t trust him?
