A group of Republicans in Pennsylvania on Tuesday has again urged the U.S. Supreme Court to take up their lawsuit that challenges the 2020 election results in the state.
The nation’s top court had previously rejected the group’s request for immediate injunctive relief to block Pennsylvania from taking further steps to certify the 2020 election results. At the time, the group’s lawyer, Greg Teufel, said the case was not over because his clients were planning to file a formal petition to ask the court to review the lawsuit, which they hadn’t filed the first time.
The lawyer filed a petition for a writ of certiorari on Dec. 11, docketed by the court on Dec. 15, which argues that Pennsylvania's Supreme Court was wrong when it dismissed their case because the justices thought the plaintiffs filed their case with unreasonable delay.
“This Court should not turn a blind eye to unconstitutional election laws that permit massive vote dilution and have a significant impact on election outcomes, as the Pennsylvania Supreme Court did,” the petition (pdf) states.
The case at hand—cited as Kelly v. Pennsylvania—argues that Act 77, a law that made voting by mail without an excuse legal in Pennsylvania, was enacted in violation of Pennsylvania’s constitution. The state constitution, the plaintiffs argue, prohibits absentee voting in Pennsylvania except for four limited circumstances.
The lawsuit alleges that the state law is “another illegal attempt to override the limitations on absentee voting prescribed in the Pennsylvania Constitution, without first following the necessary procedure to amend the constitution to allow for the expansion.”
The lawsuit was filed by a Republican lawmaker Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) and several GOP congressional candidates.
In late November a Pennsylvania commonwealth judge, Patricia McCullough, issued a temporary injunction that would have prevented the state from taking further steps

What's the point in the SCOTUS reviewing the lawsuit, seeing the Electoral College has already voted and Mitch McConnel has already accepted the result of the vote?
I mean what are they trying to accomplish here?

Depends.
One way to look at it is to show multiple times the judges are corrupt. As in making it *very* obvious.
Another way to look at it is to reflect an action from the Bible: Petitioning until it gets accomplished. Being persistent.

It’s not up to McConnell. Pence opens the envelopes and decides which set of electors to accept. Then, if one Senator and 1 Representative objects, there’s a debate and then a decision.

SCOTUS will likely punt and call the case moot. But they could take the case and hold that the PA Court should have considered the case rather than rejecting it on laches. Bouncing it back to the PA Court, that Court SHOULD hold that Act 77 is unconstitutional, but wouldn’t have the courage to do so. IF it had the courage, it would end up finding the act unconstitutional and reject all of the mail-in ballots, or at least throw it to the PA legislature to rescind its vote for Biden electors. Not sure what the law on that is, but I would think that as long as it’s done before the 6th, it would be do-able. Lots of “ifs.” Nobody has the balls to do what needs to be done.

If I remember correctly Republicans complained to the PA court when Act 77 passed and Judges said they couldn’t sue because no one had yet been injured (BS). Then the election happened and legitimate voters were injured and the PA court said too much time had passed...they should have said something before.
Such a perversion of our justice system.

what are they trying to accomplish here? I think they're trying to stave off a GOP disaster in 2022. There's going to be a lot of disaffected republican voters.

Don’t mean a thing.
On Jan.20 when a fraudulent president assumes the office of the presidency, the executive, judicial and legislative branches become fraudulent.
Until such time as the usurper is removed from office and President Trump is restored the US government is fraudulent and must be ignored.

These frauds and cowards hold all the power. They chose to let their SOS and Governor change the rules at the last minute. Then they say idly by as an 800,000 vote lead disappeared.
They’re too scared to do it themselves so they’ll rely on 9 judges, only 2 of which are worth a darn(maybe), to do their job.
F*cking cowards.
Although, I’m not sure who’s more of coward, these clowns or the Michigan Speaker of the House.

So, early on we were denied because no demonstrable harm could be shown. After the election, when harm was proven, it took weeks to wind through the lower courts and then they say “too late”, you should have filed sooner. Then the SC, in all their “wisdom” refuses to hear the case due to a lack of “standing”, although they have no trouble making law when they choose to ie. abortion and Obamacare. So apparently the SC is okay with states unlawfully (since they allowed /initiated unsolicited voting without the expressed approval of their state legislatures) conducting elections that determine FEDERAL offices.

But, didn’t the Pa Supreme Court take part in passing/allowing the last minute changes in Act 77.
I find it interesting that folks like to say that the Republican’s in Pa agreed to Act 77, but at the same time conveniently fail to mention that is was the Pa SOS that changed the rules in October(???). But then again, the Republican’s did nothing about it. So, I guess their silence can be construed as them going along with it.
F*cking cowards.
Funny thing is, they all think they’re going to be safe from what will come if Harris pulls this off and becomes President. Anyone thinks that Biden is going to be there for any length of time, needs to have their head examined.
He had a rally today, in Atlanta, and hardly anyone showed up. So much for the guy that set a record in votes.

Republican’s, unfortunately, don’t ignore things like Liberals. At this point it’s time we do.
And, at this moment in time, Republican’s are still about Support the Police...Back the Blue....blah blah blah. Support and Back the very same folks that are enforcing illegal mask mandates/edicts and arresting folks in some cases.
Interestingly, as one meme states....none of the people making or enforcing these shutdowns have missed a paycheck.
