New York Times op-ed columnist David Brooks ignited a wave of backlash after insulting rural Americans who have no contact with the “expert class.”

“Look at how much more Republicans are affected by conspiracy theories than the Democrats, so it can’t just be the internet, there must be some demand,” Brooks said, pointing out the “two core problems.”
“A lot of people in the expert class live in blue cities who are thriving,” he claimed. “And a lot of people left behind in the rural parts of America, they feel threatened economically, culturally, socially and they have no contact with the expert class.”
He went on to contend that “those of us in the expert class – journalism and academia – have to do a better job of reaching out in post-Trump, establishing relationships and showing some respect,” he said.
Brooks added that there also has to be economic policies “so people don’t feel threatened,” suggesting that the way to “cure distress” is by “keeping promises to people who are unlike yourself.”

There are many directions you can go with Mr. Brooks' comments in this article but I will go with this one.
Mr. Brooks tells us rural Americans are obsessed by 'conspiracy theories'. One such 'conspiracy theory' is American politics is dominated if not controlled by a cabal of elitist-coastal political, media, academic, and tech liberals.
Mr. Brooks then tells us (or is that confirms) there is such a cabal of elitist-coastal political, media, academic, and tech liberals which he calls The "Expert Class" and the reason rural, mid-western, 'fly-over' country is led astray by 'conspiracy theories' is The "Expert Class" hasn't done a very good job at respecting rural, mid-western, 'fly-over' Americans.

It is time to cut off the power and water to coastal elites.
There "expertise" is in cash-extraction by rigging the rules of the game so that those with the right credentials in government, business and the media continue to be rewarded no matter how poorly they do or how deliberately they screw over the rest of society.
“You arrogant ass. You’ve killed *U.S.*!”

ADMITS - NO RESPECT
“...so people don’t feel threatened,” suggesting that the way to “cure distress” is by “keeping promises to people who are unlike yourself.””
ADMITS - BREAKS PROMISES
And to what specific conspiracy theories is he referring - that Trump was a Russian agent, that Trump bribed the Ukranians? that in 2016 Trump was elected with great help by the Russians? Let me stop here. Mr Brooks needs to look internally, admit their decades of arrogance, lies, and damage to our great country, resign all of their positions and then beg for forgiveness.
Another dumbass who has never been outside his tiny isolated urban hellhole.
When I lived in San Francisco I found people there to have very little knowledge of anything outside their 7 mile by 7 mile city.
They thought themselves urban and sophisticated, I found them shallow and possessing little knowledge of how the world world worked .
They lacked curiosity.
The number and intensity of “let them eat cake” moments from the elites is just breathtaking. This is just a re-hash of 0zer0’s ‘cling to god and guns’ and Hitlery’s ‘irredeemable deploreables’. These people really have no clue about the backlash they are building for themselves from the new “Ungovernables”.
Conspiracy theories like the Russians?
Republicans are affected by conspiracy theories than the Democrats?
What?
The ‘Rats suckered all-in for the Russian Collusion conspiracy theory!
Hey, Mr. Expurt No-Class, wire and mount a ceiling fan and get it balanced. Replace a toilet, or a sink, or fix a dripping faucet or shut off valve. Change the oil in your car. Hell, for that matter, just put air in your tires. Yeah. Do it without Goolag or EweTube.
Maybe it’s time for rural America to say F$CK YOU to the Blue Cities and STOP all AG Products and Truck Deliveries to these cesspools
In California, they're already doing it to themselves.
The “expert” class in DC only enriches itself and screws the rest of the country over. In other words, the f’ing elites like Brooks!
David Brooks is a pompous ass who thinks he is the smartest man on Earth when in reality he is an arrogant, conceited bastard of the worst kind.
