New Hampshire Republicans are harshly condemning their mask-skeptical colleagues after the newly sworn-in speaker of the state House contracted COVID-19 and died.
State Rep. Dick Hinch, 71, was found dead in his home last Wednesday, one week after he was nominated by his colleagues to serve as New Hampshire's speaker of the house, the Washington Post reported. On Thursday, New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald announced that a medical examination had concluded that Hinch's death was caused by COVID-19.
Speaking at a news conference Thursday, Republican Gov. Chris Sununu called Hinch a close friend and "tireless leader," warning that his death should serve as a "cautionary tale" about the risks of refusing to wear a mask.
"For those who are just out there doing the opposite just to make some ridiculous political point, it is horribly wrong," Sununu said. "Please use your heads. Don't act like a bunch of children, frankly."
Other Republicans severely reprimanded their colleagues who have flouted safety and health precautions like mask-wearing.

Virus is just gonna do its own thing whether we wear a mask or not.
Mask would not have changed his fate.
My Physical Therapist, who is actually my personal trainer, caught the China Virus, wound up in the Hospital, lost 30+ pounds and was on death’s door. Thankfully he is Home but he is out of commission until March. The China Virus is real, he is the most in-shape person I know..
He didn’t die because of mask wearing or no mask wearing.
He died because he was 71 and likely had other issues.
Come on, Sununu, you can do better than that.
That’s all fine and good but wearing or not wearing a mask has little to do with a person’s individual reaction to the virus.
He had every right to wear a mask and protect himself. So either he didn't and he should have, or he did, and it didn't help.
It does seem that for people who are not over 80 years old, obesity and the comorbidities that come with it are common. There are some health problems, such as brain cancer, that a person can do nothing about. Then there are others, like obesity, that people could help themselves about, and might, if they were made aware of how much it increases their risk of a bad outcome from testing positive.
Social distancing is more important than masks, but masks do help in slowing the spread, especially if everyone wears one.
He actually just had a bad cold after a three hour outdoor event, forced to be outdoors in the winter in NH because of the governor’s rules. He was chilled, went to bed, woke with a cold the next day and then got pneumonia. He was hospitalized and died. They never tested him but announced that he died of covid because he had the “symptoms.”

Sorry, he didn't look too healthy. Likely contributing factors like obesity. For that matter, the guy may have had a heart attack, but if he had covid, then covid killed him.
Working in healthcare, I see that very few younger people actually die of Covid, but there are quite a few younger people who are basically knocked out for months and may have permanent disabilities. It’s no joke and it’s worse than the flu.
For real???
Don't act like a bunch of children, frankly.
Literally "nanny state."
Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Fight mode engaged. These are not my equals, they believe they are my superior, my boss, my nanny, my parent, whatever know-it-all you pick.
CDC rules say that anyone dying within 60 days of a positive Covid-19 test is to be counted as a Covid-19 death. A reporter present asked if that included persons dying in car accidents. The medical spokesperson said, “Yes” but reminded the public that would represent a very small proportion of reported Covid deaths.
Other doctors have objected to the practice of persons dying of COPD/Heart failure etc. as having died from Covid-19
Good info.
My general rule is always in effect. Government lies. If government says “covid,” it’s not covid.
Yup, that sums up the covid hysteria. Before covid hysteria that would have been a pneumonia death, now its covid because we have to keep the hysteria going. This insanity is not going to stop until there is massive rebellion against it.
Probably viral load issue combined with genetic quirk...combined with, perhaps, not getting the right medicine right away.
Until you get it you have no idea how your body will respond.
He was found dead at home? That sounds like he was not sick with a high fever and cough and never saw a physician or got tested or treated for covid.
Did the autopsy show covid lung damage causing death, or did he die of a heart attack with a positive covid test?
