SCOTUS Holds Americans Can Sue Goverment Officials for Money If They ‘Unlawfully Burden’ Religious Exercise
Law and Crime ^ | 10 Dec 2020 | Matt Naham

The U.S. Supreme Court, in a Justice Amy Coney Barrett-less 8-0 decision on Thursday, deciding that the people of faith can file suit under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (RFRA) against government officials who have “unlawfully burdened” their religious exercise. But those government officials will have a defense available to them that has often been criticized in the context of police misconduct: qualified immunity...

..."The Supreme Court held that “claims for money damages” against government officials in their official individual capacities are included in what constitutes “appropriate relief.”

"Justice Thomas noted that money damages are, in some cases, really the only remedy...“To be sure, there may be policy reasons why Congress may wish to shield Government employees from personal liability, and Congress is free to do so. But there are no constitutional reasons why we must do so in its stead,” the court concluded.

This decision stems from muslims suing for being placed on a no-fly list but appears to be applicable across all religions.

Its not becuase of their religion

Its because of their religions teachings to slaughter folks from other ethnicities

There is no religious freedom or right to murder others

The crime of murder is independent of religion

We are basically ending “muslim privileges”

The Founders never envisioned Muslims and political-Islam. There is a national debate that needs to be had: in Trump’s 2nd term.

Good first step towards weakening phoney claims of qualified immunity for officers and government agencies when they violate the civil rights of citizens.

Islam was never unknown, even up to the Barbary Pirate Wars. They just never would have imagined this nation abandoning Christ, and putting Mohammed on equal terms.

But if a nation turns that stupid, the consequences are richly deserved.

They should allow government officials to have PERSONAL LIABILITY and then lets see how many of them are eager to run roughshod over our civil rights!

I am hoping that EVERY church which has been shut down, and has had its members harassed will now sue to collect PERSONAL damages against every official, from GOVERNORS on down, and I hope every church which sues is successful. Lawyers defending religious liberties should be flooding the courts with lawsuits. Shall I pontificate a bit and say that perhaps this ruling has, or will soon, put the fear of GOD into anti religious officials?
