Mike Lee Passes Big Tech H-1B Visa Giveaway in Senate Without Objection
Big League Politics ^ | 12/02/2020 | Richard Moorhead

Posted on 12/02/2020 9:59:10 PM PST by xomething

Utah Senator Mike Lee succeeded in passing legislation in the Senate that would eliminate per-country-caps on recipients of H-1B visas on Wednesday, a policy change that would effectively monopolize the visa system for nationals of large countries such as India.

The Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act has been called the greatest corporate welfare program for Big Tech in recent memory. Lee has persistently sought to pass the corporate giveaway, with previous attempts to eliminate per-country-caps being blocked by Democrat Dick Durbin and Republican Rick Scott. Neither Senator objected to the unanimous passage of the modified S386 legislation on Wednesday afternoon.

Big Tech monopolies such as Apple, Google and Microsoft have fervently lobbied in favor of eliminating per-country caps, seeking to replace their American workforces with de facto indentured workers who accept lower wages and worse working conditions. The pervasive use of the H-1B visa in the American technology industry has displaced countless American workers from their careers.

Lee’s giveaway doesn’t specifically raise annual H-1B visa rates, although an increase in numbers of visa workers would be a likely consequence of its enactment. It’s expected that the program will be dominated by Indian nationals in the event that Lee’s HR1044/S386 is signed into law, providing massive corporations with a considerable labor pool willing to work for less in return for an American visa.

The legislation was most recently updated with a provision blocking Chinese nationals from using the H-1B program. This provision appears to have been instrumental in securing its passage through the Senate.

U.S. Tech Workers @USTechWorkers Breaking: Sen. Mike...

The Big Tech giveaway will now proceed to President Donald Trump’s desk, having previously passed in the House of Representatives. It will fall upon President Trump to veto the visa worker corporate welfare in the interests of American tech workers.

Of course they waited until AFTER the election. These senatwats probably ran on an America First platform knowing they would stab Americans in the back once re-elected.

sadly trump was AWOL on h1b.

he should have cancelled this program altogether.

instead he wanted it by another fancy name. so called merit based immigration.

all immigration should stop for atleast next 25-50 years.

I voted for him basically on two issues: muslim ban and immigration. he failed on both.

senate action shows we have already lost the country. let unlimited supply of indian slaves accelerate.

Salt Lake City has an emerging tech sector. I’m sure this advocacy can be traced back to campaign bucks.

I’ve noticed that the emails I get from India (where US financial sector jobs have moved) include on the senders address/info additional names and numbers for “1st escalation”, “2nd escalation” (as though the US company KNOWS you will be getting substandard help - and will have to move up the caste ladder to get your problem addressed). The physical addresses themselves are bizarre: “Gray building #2 past smoking garbage dump, Mumbai”

“He has the ability, but he never comes across as anything but a polished politician.”

Rubio had no money when he entered the political arena. He is a career politician. Early in his career he had a minor scandal about improperly using a Republican Party credit card to fund personal expenditures which indicates he has a need for money and is willing to compromise himself to get it.

One cannot accumulate real wealth on an elected politician’s salary alone. To dramatically improve one’s lifestyle a politician must sell out to special interests who will then provide the money through speeches, campaign contributions, insider information, and special private investment opportunities (like Hillary’s commodity trading in Arkansas). If you sell out to the Chamber of Commerce and corporate interests you will be in favor of amnesty, refugee resettlement, and H1B.

We the people tolerate and reinforce this behavior by continuing to vote for corrupt Republican politicians because they are “better” than the alternative. The truth is a corrupt and immoral person is corrupt and immoral no matter what the badge. A corrupt politician will stab the voting public in the back any time it is in his/her interest to do so. Keep voting for Rubio, Lindsay Graham, Bill Lee and others, and the results will continue to be the same. Remember, in real life, the abused wife does not get relief until she walks away.

Incorrect.

Buggy whips refers to the future industry, usually craftsmen, making products that support horse power.

Given the left’s dictatorship and monitoring every watt, except the left’s usage.

Given the left’s view, down their noses, at our station.

Given the left’s recent example of dictating and monitoring Thanksgiving gatherings . . . except the left’s (California “leadership,” for example).

And, given that the left dreams up fantasies of how electrical power can be produced, but not where the left actually lives - Martha’s Vineyard, NYC Central Park - and places that refuse the very windmills that the left dictates MUST BE established on *our* land, instead.

Nevermind automobile accidents involving two Electric Vehicles, and all the directions that the battery cells will fly, roll, project - and all that “environmental impact.”

And, having then made that problem, the left will AGAIN forget/ignore that the left’s “solution” is another of its messes . . . and will proceed to make AGAIN another mess as another “solution.”

Leading to *our* need to return to using horse power.

Buggy whips.

Once the ballot box and judiciary are corrupted there is but one recourse left.

————————————

I better turn in my guns. I’ve had too many “Falling Down”’and “Going Postal” thoughts lately. Being made permanently homeless and enforced car-camping does that to a man. All the whilst, not being able to buy gainful employment. Only saving grace was escaping the US for a time. Hate to tell my American kids and wife they will never go to the US. I can’t get gainful employment. That’s now only for Indians.

trump banned usual lobbyists from ovel office.

but you can always pay jivanka. that’s how daca, h1b continued. tech ceos paid off jivanka and trump family.

he even carved out special treatment for apple in china trade war - terrifs. failed to ban tik-tok ( and one more app)

now that big tech starting screwing trump pre/post election he suddenly becocame aware of sec 230. but it’s too late. senate rinos -damn it - all republican senators are already on tech payroll.

I was in the employee benefits business in the Silicon Valley from 1995 to 2003. I talk to many HR directors and many employees directly. The white tech guys were bitter to be replaced by low cost labor.

“Unanimous consent” means no vote is taken. That way the cowards can hide from what they allowed to go through.
