Pandemic Nightmare Returns. Supply Chains Stressed, Leading to Empty Store Shelves
pjmedia ^ | 11/28/20 | Rick Moran

With governors clamping down and closing their states due to increased coronavirus positive tests and deaths, some consumers are apparently worried they will never, ever be able to purchase toilet paper again and are stocking up until the next millennia, “just in case.” The result is empty shelves at the grocery store. And supply chains are breaking under the strain.

Others are concerned they’ll never see another piece of chicken or grill another steak and are emptying meat departments. And with the evil virus on the loose, keeping your house clean to prevent the beast from taking up residence requires a lifetime supply of disinfectant and floor wax.

Sorry, but I don’t feel the panic. Now that you mention it, I could use a couple of supersized packages of TP, and can you throw in a half-dozen 18-roll packages of paper towels too?

That is, if you can find it. The first of the hoarders were panic shoppers. But then came the smart shoppers who saw the signs and intelligently purchased 150 rolls of TP because, well, if not them, then whom?

I hope some clever sociologist is taking notes and will tell us all about it when it’s over. It’s been absolutely fascinating to watch.

I’ve been using them for two or three years. It doesn’t and my TP consumption has dropped about 90%.

Get a bidet for every toilet!

We prep twice a year - once for the spring/summer storm season and once for winter, which can be mighty hard around here. Added a mini-Covid prep this year. We do not consider ourselves hoarders, and use everything that we buy.

Sometimes it’s more about experience-based wisdom than panic.

Even Home Depot and Lowes get involved from time to time by providing cleaners and disinfectants, that of course, run out quickly.

That golf ball went off the market for most part, but can sometimes still be found as decent boxed seconds.

Forward-looking shoppers are stocking up on humongous, jumbo, "forever" rolls, to meet the future needs of their fastidious families.

All the fuss about sanitizing surfaces is overdone. I’m going to write an op-ed called “Virons Can’t Jump.” Just clean the surface as you usually do. If you touch a possibly contaminated surface, wash your hands again.

One, or even a few virons, is not going to make you ill.

A big cloud of them could, like when people sing or talk loudly in crowded environments. And for a longer time than usual. Transmission is mostly by human-to-human contact. We are a sociable species and that is why the virus is having such a good time with us.

Isn’t Kirkland Costco only? That means I’m out. They tried to force me to wear a mask so I cancelled my membership.

I was in a grocery store the other day, everyone except I had a mask on. I got what I needed then while I was waiting in line, this tall brunette came striding in with no mask and a look on her face that meant business. She was not buying the bs either. She saw me and gave a big thumbs up. I wouldn’t write them all off. I will say though, women’s suffrage was wrong. That was the start of the family decay. Now I’m going to go find my flame proof suit heh.

Really? We’re still getting stuff in Alberta. Manufacturing hasn’t stopped to my knowledge, except maybe Begara. I don’t think they’re making those rifles right now. Perhaps he needs other suppliers?
