Donald Trump so profoundly changed U.S. immigration policy that it will be years before Joe Biden can alter it completely. That’s the opinion of many immigration law experts who are advising Joe Biden on immigration policy.
“They’re realizing that they have two months to figure out a really complicated mess of things,” a source familiar with the transition told CNN, referring to the Biden team. “People are really overwhelmed trying to figure out the sheer issues, the sheer number of pieces you have to coordinate. This is the genius of Stephen Miller.”
Indeed, since some policies were negotiated with sovereign nations, they can’t just be ended because Biden doesn’t like them.
The makeup of the Biden-Harris transition team reviewing the Department of Homeland Security appears to signal the incoming administration’s awareness of those actions, with Ur Jaddou, former chief counsel at US Citizenship and Immigration Services, as the team lead, and with the selection of Alejandro Mayorkas as Homeland Security secretary. But undoing policies — as Biden has said he’d do — will be a steep challenge, both logistically and politically.
“They’re coming into the office with a mandate and an intent — in many ways needed and appropriate — to reverse Trump-era immigration policies,” a former Homeland Security official told CNN.
An example would be Biden’s desire to up the number of refugees allowed into the U.S. to 125,000. But those policies that govern refugee arrivals would need to be changed at the agency level — a long and arduous task.

This is assuming one is going to follow the law to begin with.
A law is worthless if not enforced.
They are lawless.
The only laws they will enforce are ones that benefit them.
Unfortunately, all a Biden administration needs do is invoke “prosecutorial discretion” and refuse to take any action on illegal aliens. The next Director of Immigration: Sgt. Schultz.
Mexico doesn’t want central Americans. They’ll bus them up to the border and drop them off.
“Undoing Trump Immigration Policies Won’t Be Easy for Biden if were Elected President”
It will be VERY EASY if he gets the Senate by the Dems winning Georgia. If not, I agree, the road to Amnesty gets MUCH TOUGHER for him, and anything he does manage to get, if anything, (and it will require at least 11 Republican votes, due to the filibuster remaining in place) will be nothing like what he’ll get without needing ANY Republican votes.
Hard to believe that SOME PEOPLE here are demanding we lose Georgia (and hence get our mass Amnesty) just to ‘teach the GOP a lesson’ - by basically empowering Biden as a dictator.
...but here we are!
With the House majority as narrow as it is, I’m not sure Nancy can pass an amnesty bill.
Wouldn’t it be nice if a couple Dems switched parties.
They’re assuming the ass munch will follow the Law...
“With the House majority as narrow as it is, I’m not sure Nancy can pass an amnesty bill.”
I agree, and obviously that’s independent of the Senate. But in the House, keep in mind, if they do get their Amnesty, the Dems will quickly own the House, permanently - and so that’s quite a big incentive for the ones in purple districts to take the plunge (and the associated risk). And then you do have some Linda-type Republicans in the House, and some, maybe, from districts that support Amnesty.
Bottom line - it’s better for all of us not to find out whether Nancy can help Biden destroy the country.
...also, don’t forget the Courts, if the Dems can pack them (by winning the Senate), Congress basically becomes powerless, as Biden will simply issue EOs, and his judges will support those EOs, just as happened with Obama.
It will be very easy even if they don’t get the Senate, they already have Flimsey Grahamnesty, Micro Rubio, Cornyn and many other Bush League Republicans salivating over amnesty.
Once deal was struck with Mexico, the company for which I work actually closed down a factory in Michigan and moved it to Mexico. The turnover was just too great with the booming economy in Michigan.
We even had to transfer people to Mexico because there wasn't enough local talent available to run the factory. Mexico has liked seeing the jobs and at least some of their most talented people return.
Trump had two quantifiable immigration achievements in four years.
(1) Trump built or repaired 400 miles of The Wall - which Biden will never enforce.
(2) Trump reduced UN refugee immigration from 80,000 to less than 20,000. Trump did that by Executive Order. Biden can undo it with another E.O.
By every other metric - new Green Cards, new naturalized citizens, work place raids, Universal E-Verify, birthright citizenship, OPT and H-1B work visas, DACA, Temporary Protected Status - Trump's numbers were the same as Obama's numbers, or often worse than Obama's numbers.
{{{{{{They’re coming into the office with a mandate and an intent }}}}
LOL the mandate and intent of the deep state.
“It will be very easy even if they don’t get the Senate, they already have Flimsey Grahamnesty, Micro Rubio, Cornyn and many other Bush League Republicans salivating over amnesty.”
Perhaps, perhaps not. The Republicans actually have, in the past, developed a backbone when they have something to oppose, like Obamacare, rather than when we want them to support something. If we hold Georgia, it will take 11 Republican votes or more to pass anything in the Senate, that is far more than zero (if we lose).
Do you not agree that we should make it as hard as possible for them to get their Amnesty through...or do we just give them a free ride, their version, INSTANT, IMMEDIATE, and HUGE, by handing them Georgia?
The same fraud used to steal GA from Trump will be used to steal the Senate seats and the GOP Gov. and GOP SOS are assisting the Democrats in the steal.
“The same fraud used to steal GA from Trump will be used to steal the Senate seats and the GOP Gov. and GOP SOS are assisting the Democrats in the steal.”
So how does not voting in Georgia help us. Maybe, by making it so the Dems can win without needing to cheat and therefore we’ll be able to claim that we have clean elections again?
Or something like that?
We already know they do not care about being lawful or honest. 8>(
I don’t live in GA, I would vote if I did, even if it was pointless.
I have a friend who does live in GA and nothing I say will convince him to vote after the debacle that has transpired.
