Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Qantas has undertaken some of the most sweeping actions of any major airline – grounding much of its long-haul fleet and drastically reducing its route network. Now, the Australian carrier might have just set a new standard for travel in the post-COVID era as its C.E.O. declared in an interview with the television program, “A Current Affair,” that the airline is looking into options to change its terms and conditions. “For international travelers,” Joyce said, “we will ask people to have a vaccination before they can get on the aircraft.”

Of course-I’m sure that will bring the tourist industry roaring back in Australia...
Qantas: going quietly bankrupt
“ask”?? Demand or ask?
But it never crashed.
Wow talk about i intrusive overreach
C’mon, man. Show us your vax certificate.
All airlines will require it for international travel. Probably will charge a fee for it, too.
and so it begins...
I wasn’t planning on any travel for a while—should be fun to see how many travelers get serious side effects from the vaccines.
Grab the popcorn!
It’s not going to be just airline travel. A vaccine or test will be required for concerts, sporting events, etc.
There is going to be a tsunami of this crap coming down the pike ... might as well have a big “V” for vaccinated burned into your forehead to be allowed to do ANYthing. Ok, so maybe not a ‘brand’, but mandatory, if not forced, vaccinations are the future.
Actually, it could be done in a way that would attract customers. They’d just have to waive the mask requirement for any passenger who presented valid proof of current vaccination and let the vaccinated people return to reasonable air travel with decent food service and drinks. Since Quantas runs a lot of very long international routes, that could be very attractive to long distance travelers.
For example, Clarice Feldman, in her most recent column, said she wasn’t going to visit relatives in Hawaii this year because she’d have to spend 11 hours in airplane wearing a mask and didn’t want to do it. I bet she’d be happy to prove current vaccination in return for waiver of the mask rule.
Well looks like I won’t be flying internationally for the rest of my life.
I’m thinking a big “F U” burned into my forehead might express my sentiments most clearly.
That’ll work.
