California Hispanics Shock Democrats by Opposing Affirmative Action Referendum
PJ Media ^ | 11/23/2020 | Rick Moran

Proposition 16 in California, which would have allowed “diversity” to be a factor in hiring and school admissions, went down in flames on Election Day, largely because several majority-Hispanic counties voted against it.

It wasn’t even close. While pro-affirmative action groups and every major Democratic organization in the state backed the measure and supporters outspent opponents $20 million to $1.5 million, the measure still lost by 14 points.

It was a shocking defeat, especially since all the major Hispanic groups backed the measure. But something funny happened on the way to climbing aboard the diversity train; it had already left the station long ago.

Hispanics in California are a political and economic force to be reckoned with. And their growing numbers have allowed them to flex those muscles — without the benefit of government quota systems.

The Hill:

It is noteworthy that despite every major Latino organization promoting Prop 16, every single majority-Hispanic county voted against it. That might be because there has been a significant rise in the number of Hispanics attending the University of California system without the benefit of affirmative action. Records show Latinos accounting for 34 percent of all UC admissions in 2019, up from 14 percent in 1996.

Hispanics constitute some 39 percent of California’s population, and represented more than half of all high school graduates in 2018. Consequently, the group remains underrepresented in the university system, but they have clearly made significant progress.

Along with Asians, Hispanics voted down the affirmative action measure because they just don’t need it.

Frank Xu, a Chinese immigrant, was a chief player in the No on Proposition 16 campaign. He explained in an op-ed

Time for a federal judge to “intervene.”

Weird. The elites should just re-issue the referendum, then cheat it into existence. Surprised it wasn’t cheated up already.

Not as easy as it once was since Trump got elected and got a lot of judges in.

Sounds like a job for Dominion election systems.

If you gotta cheat, focus on the big kahuna. This referendum is too local for Dominion to reprogram their software. Heck, the program even let the Republican Congressional candidates actually win and flip numerous House seats!

Hispanics don’t want to pay for reparations either and they know darn well that hard work gets them places in life, something that some other ummmmmmmm lets just say “welfare oriented groups” haven’t figured out (there are plenty of exceptions of course!)

Alejandro Ortez doesn’t want to work hard to lose out on a job to Dexter Washington because of affirmative action and he certainly wants the hard working Roberto Ruiz on the 911 dispatch line instead of the incompetent apathetic LaQuifa Maxwell who got the job by default.

Maybe the Democrats assumed it was a sure thing. Next time they will cheat it in.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if the Dems’ enthusiasm for the Hispanic vote blew right up in their faces?

Nah. It’s only necessary for federal judges to intervene when the voters act affirmatively in a conservative way, such as by passing Prop 187 on benefits for illegals, or Prop 8 banning gay marriage. When the voters fail to vote as they should, such as by passing Prop 209, the first time we rejected affirmative action, or Prop 34, failing to abolish the death penalty, our rulers just the ignore the voters and do what they want anyway

The cheaters were not going to touch the CA referendums.

They are _way_ too complicated, and there are usually too many of them.

But—that is a project they can work on for future elections in their banana republic.

They have probably come to realize that all the affirmative action BS is to benefit blacks. That’s really all it’s about when it comes to race. Libs are trying to make Latinos useful idiots but there are a lot of them not going for it.

I have always believed that “black reparations” was going to really tick off Hispanics.

It was a “bridge too far” for the Democratic Party.

(The queer, trans stuff is also toxic to most Hispanic voters.)

“California’s population, and represented more than half of all high school graduates in 2018.”

All 100 of them?

The left’s attempt to impose forced systemic racism was voted down by its intended beneficiaries ....and we’re supposed to believe there was no conservative sweep on election day.

Hispanics are not stupid. They know they will be majority and won’t have minority protection eventually.

Ummm you need to visit a welfare office in California. Just sit in the parking lot for awhile and see who is coming and going. Remember ‘hispanics’ are now a majority here.

“I have always believed that “black reparations” was going to really tick off Hispanics.”

I’ve worked with many Hispanics in technical jobs and trust me, they don’t need any ‘leftist’ help. The people who do need the help are the soy-boys who can only recite textbooks, and have never gotten their hands dirty - even a bit.

btw—it is very easy to identify the magnitude of the fraud in _any_ state, country, city, town—ready for the trick....

Find the Hillary 2016 vote for that location.

Find the Biden 2020 vote for that location.

The difference is the “Biden over-vote” which is virtually all voter fraud.

We know this because of voter data for many years—the Democratic turnout was historically high for Obama in 2008, went down a bit in 2012, stayed about the same in 2016 (compared to 2012), and allegedly shot up like a rocket ship at ludicrous speed for a senile creepy old white man!

No way!
