Righty fury at Fox News is just conservative fratricide
NY Post ^ | 11/22/2020 | Peter Roff

For some inexplicable reason, conservatives rush towards fratricide with the same kind of urgency that drives lemmings over the cliff. It’s what they do, even when it’s counterproductive and costly.

Conservatism wasn’t made better off by the four-year campaign waged against Speaker Newt Gingrich by some House conservatives who considered him ideologically unreliable. It wasn’t helped by John Boehner’s premature departure from Congress, brought about by political headaches caused by House Republicans on his right flank.

A small group of so-called purists on the right even crossed swords with President Ronald Reagan, without whom modern conservatism would have emerged stillborn after the Barry Goldwater’s 1964 thumping at Lyndon Johnson’s hands. Yes, the purists even scourged Reagan, who launched a revolution the left is still trying to roll back.

In the light of what appears to be President Trump’s defeat in his re-election bid, conservatives are now turning on Fox News, a channel where I once appeared with some frequency back in the 1990s, over its supposed ideological apostasy.

What nonsense. Fox was never an explicitly conservative organization, but, as conceived by Rupert Murdoch and brought to life by Roger Ailes, it was successfully positioned as the counterpunch to the overtly liberal networks that dominated the media: CBS, ABC, NBC and CNN.

It was a necessary addition to the nation’s information stream. The opinion side of the network leans heavily to the right, but the news-gathering operation plays it mostly down the middle, remembering the need for balance, because every story has at least two sides.

As a programming strategy, it works. The network is a financial and ratings juggernaut embraced by conservatives, because Fox News gave their agenda and personalities a fair hearing.

It USED to work, but then the "down the middle" news readers, went under cover left, and then out in the open hard left.

As a programming strategy, it is just like cnn-lite, and will work equally well.

The NY Post, owned by the murdoch clan, is now giving us a "fair and balanced" view, why we ex-Fox watchers, need to come back to watch fair and balanced arthel and maria harppy etal.

No thank you, I like life with talk radio, parler, and the internet {FR, The Liberty Daily, and Just the News}.

As Speaker, Gingrich’s leadership was erratic and out of touch, and was further compromised by an affair even as Bill Clinton was being hammered for his affair with Monica Lewinsky. Reliable GOP conservatives in the House despaired that Gingrich would cost the GOP the majority that he had won them.

Since you mentioned the “Golden Boy” (Tucker), who has blithely been trying to blow off the trouble FOX is in with cratering ratings & lower ratings for his own show (FOX wants more! he said) ..... he just gave away a big “tell” as to how bad it really is. His treatment of Sidney Powell, trying to bully her to come on his show, & being rude & disrespectful when she wouldn’t comply, exposes a lot. The one person, due to the current election situation, who would draw viewers, is Sidney. Tucker NEEDS her for his show; however, she doesn’t need him at all for what she is involved in now & he got into a nasty snit, being the Golden Boy & all that - how dare she not come on HIS show. He overreached & now he’s tried to reel it back in with some of his statements, but the horse was out of the barn election night & the masks were totally ripped off the faux FOXers - people don’t buy the faux sincerity either - Tucker is real good at doing that wide-eyed sincerity look. Sidney said when she does show her hand/what she’s got, it won’t be on Tucker’s show. It used to be “you can’t cuck the Tuck”, but evidently, he was able to do it to himself.

“Righty”?

Does Peter Roff use “lefty” and “socialist” when writing about the left?

NYP rhymes with NYT.

We conservatives made Fox News what it WAS, and we can pick another outlet and do it again. We can build two into prominence at once—Newsmax and OAN. Fox is a has-been. They shot themselves in the belly. We will not let the media pee on our leg and tell us it is raining.

Boo hoo.

Any TV station that hires Donna Brazile - who cheated in the debates by giving Hillary Clinton the questions ahead of time and then lied about it - deserves to fail.

CNN has the airports to prop it up. Fox should try to work out something with the bus stations.

Say, who owns the NY Post?

Oh.

Yeah, you effed up Murdochs. It will cost you. Don’t ruin the rest of your media properties like the NY Post in the same way that you’ve ruined Fox. We can abandon them too.

Fox network is basically a production company for their lame regular programming and news.
The other Fox is the stations, which are not owned by Fox.
A Fox station near me went through a change of ownership and via FCC regs the owners of the station were broadcast over the air.
That list was a roll call of Hollywood leftists.
Hollywood took over its competitor TV by buying TV stations and then loading them with leftwing crap disguised as programming.
They were glad to play conservative while Rinos ran the GOP - Rinos say one thing while doing the Left’s bidding.
Trump was a threat to the Rino control of the GOP and now Fox has come to their rescue.
They are doing the same thing to talk radio.
The local talk radio station runs Fox news propaganda and the stable of Fox puppets like Kilmead, Hannity, Ingraham and the rest.
The sole one I listen to is Rush but his days are numbered and then they will try to foist one of their changelings in his place.
