Mexican Ambassador: Let’s Restart Mass Migration into U.S.

The United States should reopen itself to migration, amnesties, refugee inflows, asylum seekers, and more temporary contract workers, Mexico’s ambassador to the United States said Tuesday.

The U.S. immigration system “has to be based on facts and realities,” Ambassador Martha Bárcena Coqui told a forum arranged by the National Immigration Forum (NIF). She continued: ‘The facts and realities is the need to protect the most vulnerable, the need to keep open the generosity towards refugees, the need to recognize the complementarity of labor markets and demographic profiles, the need for temporary workers in the United States.”

The United States should not view migration as a security threat, she said, adding, “If you conceptualize migration as a national security issue, if you [push for] securitization of migration, and what is even worse, if you criminalize migration, then your approach always be policing, contentious [and] reduction of migration. So what we need is really to conceptualize migration … as an economic and social and political phenomena.”

Yes, Madam Ambassador, it would be good for YOUR Country of "The United Mexican States", for us, "The United States of America", to restore the escape valve of free entry into our country. But that is only your request and not your right. Our recent experiences with such unrestricted cross-border incursions has not been a happy one. Perhaps you should look inward to reduce the gangs and your internal corruption so that your people would be less inclined to flee from you!

Here in Mexico, the word on the street is for people from other nations are forming clumps at the border, so the day that Biden is sworn in, they expect to get a green light, benefits, and path to citizenship. Sounds like there would be a lot of work down there rebuilding. Although I hate the foreign aid, it would be vastly cheaper for us to pay to rebuild everything damaged down there than to accept the refugee tidal wave. If they stay and rebuild, we don't have to pay for their housing here, medical care, niños in schools and the mega-expense of them eventually voting for Democrats.

Democrat friends (yes, I have some I haven't converted) wince at their own hipocracy when I point out that the downward wage pressure from massive immigration of the unskilled does exactly the opposite of their demands for a $15 minimum wage. With very limited immigration we might be close to $15 as the defacto minimum wage without a law requiring it.
