B.B. King sings the blues.
And video killed the radio star.
Except in Iowa for some reason. It’s the only state showing activity on the CDC flu map. Very odd
Flu does not pay any bonus for treatment. WuFlu pays a bonus, so it is the only disease that is diagnosed. As always...follow the money.
They must be reporting covid illnesses as well since it is ILI (Influenza-Like Illness)
Or maybe there’s a new strain of something that isn’t flu or COVID
Masks+ distance+ hand washing are crushing it this year.
“I guess it just can’t compete”
Your statement is a more thorough analysis than CDC gave.
The CDC’s lack of any explanation makes you wonder whether they are playing dumb.
Maybe they do have an explanation but I didn’t see it.
Oops
And vaccine.
I am betting that vaccine compliance is lower this year than last year, due to increased telemedicine (less chances to flog it). I think your mask/distance assessment is correct.
These “controls” don’t appear to work for COVID, so why should they work for the flu? The most heavily masked and shut down states are the ones where the numbers are rising most.
Probably many people who had the flu or a bad cold just decided to tough it out rather than go into the nightmare that is the medical system at this point and probably a number of elderly died of it but also had COVID in their system and thus were classified as COVID patients.
Judging by the empty shelves in the cold and flu aisles at my local drugstore, I’d say a lot of people are just self-treating their flu and waiting for it to go away.
It disappeared on November 4th, as planned.
Trump should declare that his administration has eliminated the flu. Then stand back and watch flu cases skyrocket.
LOL, my first thought.
Well, the kids are not in school, so it’s going to have a tough time spreading.
“.... Id say a lot of people are just self-treating their flu and waiting for it to go away”.
Just like they’ve done of many years.
bkmk
Look at the data...
Flu started in 2019 about week 42 + or - ...the start point has some variability from season to season...
Flu is fairly predictable, running its course over ~4 months, then subsiding as the weather warms up...
We are only in Week 46 for the 2020/2021 Flu season...and it looks like we see a small Flu spike in weeks 42-44...but, keep an eye out over the next 3-4 weeks...
We should see the Flu numbers increase as expected...
Or, It could be that the normal Flu surveillance may be hindered this season by the big shiny object, COVID, on your TV screen every night...?
It could also be that there is grande dinero del gobierno (that’s big government $$$ for those in Rio Linda) to be made with COVID testing and “cases”...
Correct, also it’s early. Flu season doesn’t really ramp up until Dec, Jan and February. Also the Southern Hemisphere reported a very mild flu season, which is good news.
