That’s the old description. I wonder why they didn’t change it. That nest fell when the tree top broke out during a storm during the summer of 2017. Someone put up a platform and built a starter nest but the owls never showed up for it. Ospreys did though.
This nest is in a tree, though it looks like there’s been some human “help” since there are some boards visible. It’s in the same general area because the golf course and the marsh are visible in the background.
I hope these two owls take up residence. I so enjoy watching owlets grow up.
Great that the streets weren’t slick. You got lucky today since you needed to get out and about.
They mentioned that the temps are supposed to go waaaaay down this weekend. What’s wet will be black ice. Ugh!
Good morning, E...((HUGS))...you and Gizmo looked like you had a good adventure at Wichita Ridge yesterday.
Have a fun Friday the 13th.
Here are all the pics from yesterday.
I just grabbed the part that said the location of the nest. LOL That poor old tree it was in was just crumbling. They put the new nest in a close position, though, because the surroundings look very similar.
LOL! Stumbled over that one.
And now I am headed to my lounge chair and try to sleep. The snow has stopped...my tire tracks in the driveway are covered up, and it’s 32 here but supposed to drop into the 20s. Sunday is supposed to start the teens in daytime and single digits at night for a few days.
Pleeeeeease send some of that sunshine over here! LOL We can’t seem to shake the clouds on our area of the state. Maybe we’ll get lucky later.
It looks like y’all covered a lot of ground while you were out there. Glad you had a good time.
Yeah, that tree was dead and I’m surprised it held up as long as it did.
The nest I saw the ospreys take over was on a platform with no shade at all. I stopped watching that year. I don’t know when this nest was built with a cam set in place. It looks new. The owls seemed to like it tonight since it’s in a tree and not out in the wide open. Fingers crossed!
LOL! Sometimes that’s the best way to catch ‘em .... stumble into them.
BRRRRRRR! They’d said it was going to get cold this weekend but not HOW cold. That’s TOO cold! It’ll help thicken the ice on Lake Hood quicker and before long, the seaplanes will be able to land on it.
Still spitting a little snow at the airport. Gives me the shivers to see it but it really is a pretty view.
Sleep well.
Brrrr...that IS cold! Sweet dreams in your chair. See you tomorrow night!
I think this past season was the first year in the new location. I watched the ospreys and noticed that there was more life to this tree. I’m not sure when they built the nest...but I’m guessing between the 2018 and 2019 season.
Guess I’d better head out. See ya tomorrow night for some tunes!
Hi, LV! Thank YOU for the tune. Hope you can be with us over the weekend for more fun!
I never checked the cams at all this year so had no idea the nest had been built. It’s in a prime location and perfect for the owls’ needs. Plenty of room, and a tree top with limbs for the owlets to branch on. I knew that nest on the platform wouldn’t attract owls when they built the thing.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on the cams now in hopes these owls decide to claim it!
We’re going out tomorrow night, for the first time in ages, and I’m not sure when we’ll get home. I’ll catch ya at some point.
Nice

Don’t worry. I did a lot of riding prior to putting Blue in the Barn.
It was magnificent!
