The New York Times has been forced to issue a correction after drawing outrage over a tweet proclaiming that the news media is responsible for 'declaring' the nation's next president.

'The role of declaring the winner of a presidential election in the U.S. falls to the news media. The broadcast networks and cable news outlets have vowed to be prudent. Here's how it will work,' the Times tweeted on Tuesday.

The tweet linked to an article explaining how the media will report election results.

The poorly worded tweet drew immediate backlash and accusations that the newspaper was anointing itself as the arbiter of the election's outcome.

No supporting evidence for the NYT to claim so.

Just more widespread NYT Fake News.

Maybe if they had said, “reporting” the winner, it would be more acceptable, and what would be reported would come from vote totals sent in by the states. In close races, they should back off from reporting anything final until the vote count is far enough along to show a solid trend.

I remember blow out elections such as 1980 and 1984. The tidal wave of support for Reagan everywhere was so obvious and overwhelming that the media could “declare” a winner.

Our most recent election, so close and now contested, was no place for “declaring” anything, and called for prudent reporting. That didn’t happen. The media took upon itself the role of crowning the king and it was obvious whom they wanted to crown.

“Poorly worded tweet”? Hardly. They are a newspaper for crying out loud. All they do is study words, write words, and lie.

"Referred imprecisely"--

No, you arrogant, lying twit--your statement that it "falls to the news media to declare the winner of Presidential Elections" is a blatant, ignorant falsehood.

With this damning statement, the editors of the New York Times has demonstrated conclusively just how deep their overweening arrogance has driven their collective mind up into the dark and smelly recesses of their editorial butt.
