Holy crap. That’s a close win.
Is there a handful of House Donkeys with enough brain cells to switch parties? If not, the majority will be erased by redistricting.
They will most likely do a recount on a race that close.
Interesting. I don’t think I’ve EVER heard of a close race with a recount etc. that was won by a Republican. I expect a box of new ballots to be discovered by morning.
In redistricting, Its believed (not official yet)Texas +2, FL +2, AZ +1 ... and Republicans now hold nearly 30 State delegations; and Supreme Court said we can redistrict by political affiliation. Thats why I believe House goes red in 2022, and doesnt change. The next two years are a transition.
And some people dont think their vote is important !
Generally Iowa is pretty honest about counting ballots
States that lose seats for 2022 will present great opportunities for redistricting too. But, Republicans will likely lose ground in Ohio which is moving to a new system due to a ballot initiative.
Where are those damned 174 extra votes? I knew I stashed them somewhere around here.
If only legal votes are counted, the GOP has retaken the House this term—I am sure of it.
The Rats have success because they can mobilize huge masses of people to move from non-battleground districts to battleground districts.
The GOP voters tend to be more stable, with jobs and families and stuff.
As Genghis Khan showed, nomads can be quite motivated to loot, pillage, and conquer.
My Congressional race. An open seat, Loebsack (D) was retiring. Last ‘Republican’ to hold it was Jim Leach. MM-M closed in late tabulation election overnight to take a couple hundred vote lead. Couple days later Hart found a precinct with “human error” in Jasper County and flipped it to smaller couple hundred vote lead. Mon. GOP SOS conducted recount of Jasper County with hand recount of the “errant” precinct, leaving Hart up ~160 votes. Then through either an act of divine stupidity or one of never to be admitted GOP smarts another error was found in little Lucas County. One of its precincts had been submitted with the pre-election test data, not the real voting data. Little county, but big (69%) for MM-M. Real votes replaced the test data and suddenly MM-M is up a few dozen votes. Today was last day for promptly postmarked absentee ballots in IA so the lead fluctuated finally giving the lead of 40. SOS will play fair with similar county recount and precinct hand count in Lucas county tomorrow. Whomever’s behind likely asks for recount Friday.
How many state legs do we have now? 38?
it’s more about economic trends. People leave CA because old liberals in Bay Area and LA don’t want to build enough housing b/c it might interfere with the view on their home they bought in 1972 and pay 0 property tax on b/c of how our prop tax assessment works.
People then go to AZ, CO, NC, NV, TX chasing the growing tech/services job market and affordable houses. then you have carpetbagger retirees slowly ruining MT/ID by moving there. if you want to stop those places going purple, then zone for density in CA :)
I’ve seen local races decided by single digits.
I’ve won an election by single digits.
30 where we control both houses. Rats have 18, two are split.
thank God. money well spent if this holds up.
proof that even people in states with no representation or states that are solid red or blue can make a big difference in close districts in other states, if they are willing to do some homework and spend their hard earned dollars.
Dems are moving to Georgia in droves as we speak so they can vote in the Senate runoff.
