THE SENATE SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS YEAR’S ELECTION
Powerline ^ | 11/9/20

If Republicans hold onto the Senate majority, one of their top priorities should be an investigation of the election that just took place. The purpose of that investigation shouldn’t be to relitigate the outcome of the presidential race. The purpose should be to determine the extent, if any, to which our revised, post-coronavirus election system is susceptible to and/or plagued by fraud.

Stated differently, the purpose should be to determine whether our election procedures can be relied on to produce winners who actually receive the requisite mandate from the electorate — and to recommend measures to correct flaws to the extent they are found.

The investigation shouldn’t assume the existence of fraudulent practices on a large scale, only the possibility that they occurred this year. There is widespread suspicion that fraud played a meaningful role in this election. That suspicion is at least as widespread as was the view four years ago that the Russians played a meaningful role in the last one. It was right (as I argued at the time) for the Republican Congress to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 contest. It is right for the Senate to investigate possible widespread fraud in this one.

Nothing is more integral to our democracy than fair elections. Running second, arguably, is public faith that our elections are fair.

Any and all elections involving a federal office ought to be governed by a standardized ballot that is extremely difficult to counterfeit.

I have lost my faith in the Senate to “investigate” anything with any resulting distasteful consequences other than their own hiney holes.

Let me guess, without going to the website, I’ll bet it’s that verbose clown Mirengoff, foaming at the mouth and spewing his inarticulate lawyerly drivel.

The politicians will sit on their hands. Professional Courtesy, you know. And don’t count on the courts to bail us out. Only the people can turn this around. Right now, the politicians, the establishment, the courts, and the media are all betting that we will do nothing.

The Senate couldn’t Investigate the Coup in 4 years.

Refused to name the Whistleblower

Refused to call Hunter Biden or Burisma Officials as Witnesses.

The Senate is No Help, whatsoever.

Dems, they fight.

Constitution says that the states decide individually how they will conduct elections. You need to get your suggestion out to all fifty states.

Please stop this silliness. The day the Senate announces an investigation is the day you know nothing will ever happen.

Senate and AG are completely worthless. One would think that at least the AG would be very motivated and legally curious as the FBI should be also. Most of American government is now a complete clown show.

It is too late in the process to investigate the elections.

We need to investigate the voter registration process and get that cleaned up. Otherwise, election fraud will continue.

In today’s high tech world here are the simple steps to clean up voter registration.

Step 1—When a person who has never registered before appears at the county election office they must present proof of age, citizenship, and residency. That info goes into a national database.

Step 2—When a registered person moves to a new county, they must appear before the county election office and present proof of residency. That info goes into a national database and the prior voter registration is removed.

Step 3—When a person dies, the person filling out the death certificate checks the national database and sends the death certificate to the county where the deceased was registered and their name is removed immediately.

I hope President Trump's legal challenges overturn the election "outcome," ensuring another four years for President Trump who clearly earned it.

The primary reason I want to see that is kinda selfish: I want to see that former Republican President George W. Bush dufus publicly retract his giddy praise for whom he cluelessly claims is "President-Elect Biden." Oh yeah, and Jeb, too ...

Ya gotta love those RINO dipsh*ts in the audience who giddily, obediently do whatever that clueless RINO begs them to do ............ RINOs!

Well, you get to work on that.

I don’t necessarily disagree in terms of general principle. But it would be a very long and difficult slog.
