Joe Lonsdale co-founded Palantir Technologies, which just went public, and was an early employee at PayPal. But in recent years he's been a venture capitalist, running 8VC out of San Francisco. Now he's moving the investment firm to Austin, driven out of California by taxes and other concerns. According to CNBC, Lonsdale has already hosted Elon Musk and Michael Dell at his new Austin home.

Austin is San Francisco East.
If I were king of the world, I’d evacuate all the people and then raze silicon valley. Turn it back to farmland where it would actually do something good for humanity.
They left for *Austin*.
Austin isn't Texas, despite being located within the boundaries of Texas.
Taxes are still lower so...
Yeah, coming to chit in our nest.
Where would you evacuate the people to?
Are there specific buildings and/or streets which are troublesome?
Lots of California companies are moving to Texas.
Tesla is building a huge factory and Apple, Facebook, Google and now Palantir is moving to Texas!
These companies sure do like being right in the middle of Texas.
Everything in Silicon Valley without the people is innocent.
Another parasite being defecated out from its host?
tapeworms work the same way.
Gee. Yeah. Space to grow, lower taxes, friendly people. Who knew?
I’d scatter them to the corners of the earth. Maybe let a few back if they bring their own hoes.
Austin? Isn’t Austin just as Liberal as San Francisco? Heck, it is Texas’ most liberal city by my estimates.
Absolutely.
My son went to the University Of Texas his first year of college. He got zero credit for the year...he partied the whole year.
He eventually straightened up and got a PhD in physics from ASU. He's a big shot at a defense contractor in SOCAL now.
(BTW, he was conceived in Golden Gate Park at a Grateful Dead free concert in 1967, 'the summer of love'.")
Liberal refugees, don’t vote for what you fled.
Unfortunately, liberals refuse to admit the problems of their current domains are due to bad policies. So they move and then vote for what they fled.
Hmmm... no mention of Peter Thiel having anything to do with Palantir? Essential component of CoVID contact Tracking and Tracing.

I live near Austin. Honestly, no, despite how much the media wants to meme this into existence. Steve Adler is NOT popular here, esp with his homeless policies. I’m not going to lie to you and say Austin is right wing, but it’s more 60/40 liberal/conservative than 90/10. A lot of military veterans are moving here and also disaffected west coasters who wanted to get AWAY from hyper-liberal policies, including me.
SOCAL?
Company name hijacked from Tolkien’s novels
Thats real original, I wonder did they royalites to his estate for that?
