In the 2018 midterm elections, more than 187,000 Pennsylvania voters cast a traditional absentee ballot, and for the millions who chose to vote in-person at their precincts, it only required a few touches of an electronic screen.
But as a result of a much-needed bipartisan makeover of the way the battleground state administers its elections and a pandemic that pushed voters into seeking safe options, nearly 4 out of every 10 voters in this year’s presidential election cast an absentee ballot.
And when the results came in, what was originally intended to be another option to vote ended up as a centerpiece of the race. Former Vice President Joe Biden won mail-in ballots by a more than a 3-to-1 rate after Democrats had spent months mobilizing their voters to apply and mail them in - or, as the days neared the election, to drop them in a secure box or at their county elections offices.
In fact, a batch of mail-in ballots out of Philadelphia was ultimately responsible for putting Mr. Biden over the top on Saturday, giving news outlets the confidence to call Pennsylvania - and the election - for him.
The origins of why nearly 2.6 million Pennsylvanians voted by mail in this election can be traced back to the last presidential election in 2016, when President Donald Trump beat Democrat Hillary Clinton by about 44,000 votes.
Even before the election, U.S. intelligence agencies sounded the alarm about the security of electronic voting machines, insisting that foreign governments had tried multiple times to hack into voting systems. Those concerns continued after the contests, though there was no evidence any vote totals were compromised.
The popularity of mail-in voting took off this year, mostly out of necessity. Many voters feared going to vote in-person during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Is this why there are so many votes for Biden only, and none for down ticket races?
Sounds like it.
So then the lawyers yelling “look at all these Biden votes with no downticket votes” as evidence of fraud are wasting their time. They need to see this. Stuff like this kills our credibility. It will be too easy for AP or CNN to say “Trump lawyers are repeating debunked nonsense”.
Neal Cavoto just cut away from a Trump spokeswoman, saying that her charges against the Democrats were too explosive to be true unless substantiated.Well, how can they be substantiated tho a “hear no evil” monkey?
