There’s nothing stopping Trump himself from staging a political comeback. He wouldn’t be much older than Biden now in 2024. He earned more votes than any Republican presidential candidate in history and few GOP aspirants would likely seek out a direct challenge a la 2016.
It wouldn’t even be unprecedented as former president Grover Cleveland famously served two non-consecutive terms from 1885 to 1889 and then again from 1893 to 1897.

You all realize that but for a Libertarian throwaway candidate named Jo Jorgenson, Trump would have won Arizona, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin and the election. She got more votes than the margin of stolen victory.
Someone posted last week that the "Trump2024.com" domain name has already been purchased.
I say Trump should bide his time and see what the next 1-2 years brings in Washington. If we see serious erosion in our economic standing and some more stupid Middle East military engagements by 2022, he ought to throw his hat in the ring and do another escalator ride.
