Washington -- My deadline for this column is Tuesday afternoon, so obviously I could not report on Tuesday's elections. I know, I know. The mainstream media already had their stories about Tuesday's presidential elections written weeks ago. It was a Biden landslide. Donald Trump is already packing his bags and leaving town, but where will he retreat to? The entire world is left-wing now. Even Monaco has gone left. Maybe the former president can retreat to Moscow with his old friend Vladimir Putin. Possibly, we shall see them playing golf together. One thing is certain: Donald will be smiling. I have never seen a man who had so much fun running for office, and his voice never cracked. Remember I said it. Donald just ran the most vigorous campaign since Bob Kennedy's tragically truncated 1968 campaign.
So, without Tuesday's big story to write about, what am I to do? Well, given the mobs in the streets that have been forming for weeks, I am sure the police will be active. I hope no one is hurt, especially among the police. They come from homes just like you and me. They have children and spouses. Some are coming home today with aches and pains, all acquired from their work in the line of duty. I hope they have no more serious wounds than aches and pains, and, of course, I hope their adversaries have no more serious wounds. Yet their adversaries can avoid injury by staying at home. The police cannot stay at home. They have to take to the streets to protect property and pedestrians. Thank God for the police.
The Democrats want to defund the police. They feel that sending psychologists out on patrol and social workers is the enlightened alternative to armed police. Well, America already has too many of these psychologists and social workers, so I have no quarrel with sending them out on a fool's errand. Yet, what about the poor people whose neighborhoods they are sent to protect? No, on second thought, I would stick with the police -- the brave, resourceful, dutiful police. They protect the poor, the middle class, the businesspeople and even the rich.
I come from a police family. Three generations ago, my great-grandfather was a patrolman in Chicago. He held the line in the Haymarket Riot of 1886 fighting simple demonstrators mixed with anarchists who carried bombs. For years thereafter, he attended the Haymarket Riot remembrance. In the end, he was the sole survivor, and I recall as a little boy laying a wreath at a Haymarket memorial in Chicago's Union Park. In the 1960s, the Students for a Democratic Society bombed the Haymarket memorial twice. On at least one occasion, Barack Obama's friend Bill Ayers participated in the bombing. I have written that Bill missed me by about 25 years. Now the Haymarket memorial is in a nearby police station. It is much safer there.
Four generations ago, my great-great-grandfather headed the Secret Service in Chicago. He got wind of a plot by counterfeiters to steal the body of Abraham Lincoln from its crypt in Springfield, Illinois, and hold it for ransom. The night of the kidnaping, he and his Pinkerton men surrounded the crypt and broke up the plot. They chased the counterfeiters back to Chicago, and eventually, Tyrrell sent the perpetrators to the calaboose.
So, as you can see, I have a great deal of sympathy for the police. They brave great danger to protect ordinary people. Of late, they have, in large numbers, been injured in carrying out their work. Some have been badly injured, and others have been murdered. Now "reformers" want to thin their ranks as though life would be much more pleasant without the cops around. Kamala Harris has even contributed to a fund for bailing out demonstrators who the police have arrested. Thirteen members of Joe Biden's staff did likewise.
For some reason, the Democratic candidates feel the police are the cause of urban unrest. Already, the city council of Philadelphia has denied them the use of tear gas. Last week, 58 police officers in that city were injured, and one had her leg broken when a peaceful protestor ran over her in his pickup truck. During last week's riot, 443 incidents of looting were reported, and rioters used explosives to break into 22 automated-teller machines.
I wonder if Kamala and the Biden 13 sent any donations to the Philadelphia cop with the broken leg.
Unless those ordinary people are Trump supporters being pummeled by Biden supporters, in which case they say, "Meh."
More precisely , ALMOST the “entire world” is GLOBALIST aka SSocialiberal under the huge Media propaganda .
Even more precisely the globalist hyperclass holding propaganda means , medias and monney has gone left-lib .....for MONNEY and special interests
I was having issues police behavior until this BLM / Antifa crap started.
Now I beginning to understand why they sometimes behave as they do.
I still think that ‘no-knock’ warrants should be deep-sixed.
Yippee, let’s hear for the police who harass everyday citizens for slightly going over the speed limit but sit back and watch Antifa destroy statues and burn down cities.
It’s the 95% of police who give the other 5% a bad name
Don’t commit any crimes, don’t speed, don’t do anything illegal, and you won’t have to worry.
The police: meter maids paid to write as many tickets as possible.
They do have impressive very dark blue uniforms (not be confused with black), big tacky patches, military style haircuts, $75K SUVs, they all have the posturing 120 lbs. female that won’t be able to take down a 14 year old boy unless she shoots him and a SWAT team even if its a department of 12. Oh, we can’t forget the military grade drone and mine and ambush resistant vehicle, everyone important needs one of those sitting in the lot and rusting also.
Truth is, when the local police department was reduced to 25% manning because of the shutdown from Covid, it made no damn difference.
America: sheriff, police, DEA, ATF, FBI, state police, armed IRS agents, postal inspectors, TSA, armed social security investigators, border patrol, customs, federal protective service, secret service, and many more...
But does anyone ask what a $9,000,000,000 a year TSA accomplishes? How many terrorists have they caught since their inception? 0. How much do they charge for every flight? $11.20. Plus what they get from the federal government and the airlines which is all tax payer or customer anyhow. We pay for this shit. Likewise most of these cops are no more than a mobile toll booth for the city. They should at least say “please and thank you” as they pull the money out of your pocket with the threat of force.
Good point Goebbels.
Kaslin,
There are over 3,000 federal punishable offenses.
51 volumes (thick books), in double column, small size 10 font, double sided of federal code.
“YOU” break an average of 3 laws before you get to work. “You” break laws without even knowing you are breaking them.
The law should be simple to understand, reasonable, and the police should not be used as a revenue generator by cities.
Agreed.
I’m no lawyer, but my basic feeling is that a law should be able to be printed on a sheet of paper. But we have things like Obamacare which takes up about 1000 pages. That’s not a law. That’s social engineering. Most of what the legislature does is really social engineering and the enablement of graft to benefit the legislature.
I do agree with you that the police should not be used as a revenue generator by cities.
Now I am going to tell you something that has necessarily nothing to do with the police.
I live in Clarksville , which is in Montgomery County. In 1968 Montgomery County came up with a wheel tax of $5,00 which was supposed to have only been temporarily. My husband was in the Army and we had come to the States from Germany where he had been stationed at for five years during the Berlin Crisis.
He was on orders for Vietnam for which he had volunteered. He figured he would have to go eventually anyway.
He ordered a new Car to be picked up by him in Mount Holly, New Jersey. We did and the car, a 1966 Chevrolet Impala Convertible was registered in NJ.. Any Soldier that is stationed at Fort Campbell and has a vehicle or motorcycle registered in Montgomery county is exempt from the wheel tax even if the soldier's children attend school in Clarksville or Montgomery County.
Anyway the so-called temporary fee became permanent and is now $74.00
Well one day I did and went over the allowed speed limit. I herd the siren and asked myself where did he come from, because I did not see a police car when I was driving. I was taking my seat belt off and was getting my driver's license and registration out and was going to ask him when he came up to my window "where did you come from" But then I thought better. I put my seat belt back on, put my drivers license back in my wallet, and the registration back in the glove department. When he came to my window a he asked me for my DL which I showed him and he told me at how many miles I went over the allowed speed limit. It wasn't to much because he offered me permission to attend a traffic school for a certain fee at the courthouse, which I did. The judge cleared me. Read in the news that now the fees are much higher, but I don't drive anymore because of my age. I am a senior citizen who turned 79 in August
When it comes to government, “temporary taxes” or tolls are seldom temporary (that is true around the world in fact! LOL), Ponzi schemes are OK for the government (illegal for you or I), gambling is OK even where and when it is illegal, and breaking a contract or deal made is acceptable without consequence if you’re the government... But we once were a nation where the federal government was kept small and the states and individual were empowered.
The balance of powers have shifted and today America is a centralized nation, with the federal government all powerful. States are “subordinate” to the federal government.
The Bill of Rights are meaningless, all ten are abridged and government has given itself the power to interpret what these mean situationally dependent and even inconsistent with other government agencies or between situations (I can give examples if interested). We are subjects of a technocracy, where bureaucrats (lawyers specifically) in 15 different agencies get to decide what your rights are based on regulations they write. There is no vote in Congress (the legislature has abdicated decision making), it’s just a lawyer in the DEA, FAA, EPA... writing a “regulation” that is then enforced with the full force of the government.
We are a Euro style social-economy, light. The difference between the US and say Germany is that government in all its facets (city, county, state, federal) comprises about 43% of the GDP, whereas in Germany it is 48%.
This is not what the founding fathers envisioned. This is not in the spirit of the US Constitution. This is not what those people coming here to seek freedom signed up for.
one act of resistance would be for real Americans to stop their children from entering the military....its not the honorable America loving organization it used to be...
starve the beast.....stop supporting the leftist oligarchy....
