The polls opened at 6 a.m. on Long Island, but News 12 received reports of delays or problems in both Nassau and Suffolk counties at some polling locations.
Some voters said their polling places were not set up, others said they were told there were technical problems that were preventing them from voting.
News 12s Caroline Flynn was in several locations in Nassau County, including Seaford and Massapequa Park, where there were long lines. Workers at the locations said there were issues with some of their machines this morning, but the problem was corrected. The Democrat commissioner for Nassau County told News 12 that there was a great concern at East Broadway Elementary School in Seaford where a machine was not working. The commissioner added there were also problems because inspectors did not show up, so they had to send additional workers to the location.
In addition, News 12 has heard about concerns in Suffolk County at Babylon Town Hall where voters there were told lines were due to issues with machines.
Nassau officials say they sent inspectors and police to any spots where there were complaints so far every station that should be open is, and people are voting. Officials are urging voters to have patience, budget more time, dress warm and bring a mask.
No surprise . The bastards in Suffolk never sent my absentee ballot !
They most certainly did. They just didn't send it to you. Now thank them for relieving you of the burden of voting.
The Dems have to be nervous about NY. It had many large red counties in 2016 including Suffolk. Now everyone has left NYC. There will not be a massive voting block there that they have always depended on. Then you have Hillary joining the election group of officials just last week. Some say Nassau Co will go red
A co-worker of mine was at the Massapequa Park location, waited 2 1/2 hours, but then they got it going and he voted
Im in Suffolk County.. The machine to cast the ballot got jammed up. Got back online quick enough. But I do not trust the Dems that are affiliated with this process!
Not familiar with this part of the country, are these counties that went Trump in 2016?
Yes, but not bigly then.................
Suffolk voted R in 2016, possibly for the last time; Nassau, which was once the prototypical “Republican Machine” county in the U.S. back during the Al D’Amato days and earlier, is already long-gone Democrat. Demographics and voter registration trends are moving Long Island further left all the time.
My thanks to you both. The reason I ask is that most of the problems/issues seem to be happening in areas that went Trump in 2016 or Republican in 2018.
It’s that way every 2 or 4 years. They mostly turn out to be minor glitches.
Democrat vote fraud is obviously on a much larger scale than a few malfunctioning voting machines, and not something so easily detected by the public. I’m not saying they DON’T resort to fraud at that level, just that they really have little need to do so, given what goes on out of the public eye.
Makes sense, thanks for your reply.
