Posted on 10/31/2020 3:12:28 PM PDT by Jyotishi
The state Constitution says emergency proclamations expire after 60 days, but Hawaii now is in its eighth month of lockdown.
Groups nationwide have filed lawsuits against the coronavirus emergency orders declared by their governors. Some have been successful. But what about Hawaii, whose governor just yesterday extended his state-of-emergency proclamation by another month, till the end of November? Can Hawaiis seemingly interminable state lockdown, first ordered in March, ever be overturned in court?
The Grassroot Institute webinar held Friday, Oct. 23, discussed the trends of lawsuits across the nation and whether they offer any hope for Hawaii.
Our special guests were:
>> Honolulu attorney James Hochberg, who specializes in real estate law, education law and defending religious liberties. Hochberg recently joined with the Virgina-based Center for American Liberty in filing a lawsuit against Hawaii Gov. David Iges COVID-19 emergency proclamations.
>> Elliot Engstrom is legal director of American Juris Link, a legal network based in Arizona that connects litigators across organizations. He has closely followed the lawsuits happening across the nation and has been working hard to connect lawyers to support coronavirus-related lawsuits.
>> Patrick Wright, a former Michigan Supreme Court commissioner who now directs the Michigan-based Mackinac Center Legal Foundation. The foundation just last month succeeded in overturning Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmers extended COVID-19 emergency executive orders.
Each of the guests gave a short presentation before answering questions fielded from the audience by Joe Kent, institute executive vice president.

Doesn’t he realize that if he only forbids the landing of any airplane or ship on any island of the Hawaii’s is the only way to stop the Chicom virus from entering the states. If he does that for 6 months, the virus will probably be eliminated.
My guess is this is Senator Mazie Hirono trying to keep Hawii from becoming Republican. Ms. Hirono is desperate with the exposing of the corrupt Joe Biden and family...Hunter’s past and present. Is Mazie worth the Hawaiian vote?
The rats want to suppress all economic activity, and PDJT, has “ratted” them out, with his federaldist policy of letting the rats show their true colors.
If you have to continually spar in court for your rights, you don’t have any rights. And those in power who can engage endlessly in court at no cost to themselves ...have no fear.
They need to seal the rock. Right now. Close it.
I don't think that's possible. Food would soon be an issue, as would fuel.
Does Hirono think she can dictate to the US Navy which aircraft and ships may come and go from Pearl?
That is the question.
We need a constitutional amendment to ban lockdowns and mask mandates.
I live on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Personally none of the BS the Honolulu Democrats push
really affects me much, as my neighbors and I
pretty much ignore government here.
They are killing the tourist based businesses,
but the government, now the largest employer in the state
mostly lives off property taxes. They are Fat dumb and happy
because regardless of the state of the economy, you have to pay property taxes. They really don’t care about Tourists and the income, We really don’t like Tourists all that much anyway. Rich property owners is the real bread and butter.
If there were no planes and boats landing for 6 months on Hawaii the few thousand survivors would be the most vicious cannibal monsters imaginable.
There are some very dark sides of Hawaiian history very few people will talk about:
And the virus would also be eradicated, and think of all the deaths they could chalk up to it!
I expect this virus will never be totally eradicated. Will they remain isolated forever?
As someone who lives in Honolulu; I could not agree more with what you said. This is what happens when you have almost seventy years of one-party rule. The Dims have already destroyed just about every other industry in the state; why shouldn’t they destroy the tourism industry.
We have a trip planned for next year. I now regret making it.
Employer of locals. Let a haole try to get on a road crew.
So sad. Goddamn democrat coup of 1954.
There, I fixed it for you....
