Tens of thousands of Parisians last night caused massive traffic jams in a desperate attempt to flee the French capital ahead of the start of Emmanuel Macron's new national shutdown.
Video posted to Twitter shows huge numbers of Parisians attempting a mass exodus out of the city in a bid to avoid the 9pm curfew and the start of the second lockdown from midnight.
The night air was filled with the sound of blaring car horns while social media users estimated that Parisians had created 'hundreds of miles' of gridlock to escape to their second homes in the country.

Like it or not, the virus is back, now that people are back indoors and closing windows. All that Europe accomplished was a huge stall in the timing of the virus. Yesterday was our worst day yet at 90,000 cases, but scale-up France’s 47,000 for their population, and it would have been the same as 235,000 here. And the worst one yesterday was Belgium,which, if scaled-up, would be 600,000 cases here (and 4,000 deaths, compared to our 1,000 deaths).
They’re getting ready for an Operation Dark Winter scenario. This will usher in an totalitarian government in the Western countries and our government bureaucrats will be happy to do it.
