Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) criticized the media in a Tuesday tweet for what he said was it not reporting a drop in the COVID-19 mortality rate in Spain, which is experiencing a surge in new coronavirus cases.
“New COVID infections up 33% in Spain but mortality down 82%,” Paul tweeted while sharing a link to Spain's coronavirus totals. “The Leftwing media reports the new cases but refuses to let anyone hear the good news — mortality rates are plummeting!”
According to Worldometers, Spain recorded 17,396 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, along with 93 deaths.
The country recently declared a state of emergency in an effort to battle a second wave of infections that is also impacting neighboring France, which also saw a record number of new cases over the weekend.
“The reality is that Europe and Spain are immersed in a second wave of the pandemic,” Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said in a Sunday statement. “The situation we are living in is extreme.”
Paul, like President Trump, is a staunch critic of shutdowns in the U.S.
The libertarian also slammed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden earlier this week, calling the former vice president "a petty tyrant like" New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).
“Just now: @JoeBiden will not rule out more lockdowns,” Paul tweeted. “This should be disqualifying. We have had enough petty tyrants like @NYGovCuomo hurting our economy and hurting our children.”
The coronavirus has been a top issue in the 2020 U.S. presidential campaign, with Biden making Trump's handling of the pandemic a central argument.
The U.S. death toll stands at more than 226,000.
The president has argued that millions would have died without the steps his administration took.
Both Paul and Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Steam comes out of my ears when I hear the media talk about cases but leave out death rates. If you tested everybody for all kinds of conditions and diseases,you’d find that a lot of people are sick from one thing or another.
Exactly. From the beginning, the media and medical industrial complex have conflated positive tests with the numbers of people who actually get sick from the virus. All testing positive means is that the individual was exposed to the virus. It does not mean they are sick with it. They also have been counting deaths from any cause as COVID deaths if the deceased has COVID antibodies in their system, whether or not the deceased had symptoms of the virus.
... CDC list about 130,000 of those deaths are not COVID - that those that died had other life threatening illnesses or were on their death bed prior to getting it (or never had it at all - but then labeled as such).
So, that drops the number down to 70,000 deaths to COVID - not, what Biden keeps preaching, 200,000...

Me and have been. Chinese wuhan flu took out those people who were inclined to a near future demise not to mention a few attributed wrongly so. It stands to reason that a fair counting of deaths over time will show this.

Not only that, every time you test positive without symptoms it means virus came inside body and your body fought it off and killed the virus

If they did millions of tests for influenza, there will be millions of positive tests as well.

I would wager the true death toll is in the range of 50,000 at most.
First rule of government. If you subsidize it, you will get more of it. Government subsidized payment to providers for treating COVID patients.

Parody? I think it’s only a ‘parody’ if the listener/observer is aware that what is being presented is meant to be a humorous/satirical version of a real event or set of facts. There are a lot of folks who watch that don’t have that understanding and that means CNN is engaging in fraud...
Another stat I’d like to see updated and publicized—seems to me it was late last spring or early summer that they found the total number of deaths nationally from all causes combined had not risen, but was actually slightly lower than normal.
The number of “new cases” would only be a useful (and marginally so) statistic if the lying media also published the total number of people tested, and number of negative tests, and resulting hospitalization and death for the same time period, e.g.;
1,000 new positive cases!!! (Scary!)
250,000 tests, 249,000 negative (oh, not as scary)
Of the 1,000, 25 hospitalized, 1 death (oh, never mind)
